Saskatchewan artists explore fashion at The Fashion Show.

The Fashion Show highlights the political and communicative nature of clothing as contemporary art. Clothing is not merely an adornment; it is an extension of the self–a second skin through which we signal our identity, our desires, and our sense of belonging.

Clothing intimately envelops our bodies to shelter and comfort, while sustaining us through daily contact with beauty. In contrast to the exploitative, harmful modes of fast fashion, artists have invested every stitch with care to heal both the wearer and the maker.

Upcycling careworn domestic textiles into enchanting ensembles, Lisa Wicklund weaves together her childhood imaginings of distant glamour and the comforting shelter of her childhood bedroom. Few fashion statements are as iconic and heavy-handed as the MAGA trucker hat; Geanna Rae inverts, perverts and subverts this symbol of divisive politics by emblazoning her garments with messages that affirm Indigenous identity and advocate for land rights.

David Le’s size-inclusive, hand-printed garments mix gender and cultural signifiers of colonization, while Jason Baerg’s collections draw on natural cycles and propose fashion as a way to activate our bodies as spaces for ceremony.

Each time we get dressed, we bring stories and dreams to life. The Fashion Show reveals how clothing can serve as autobiography, activism and aspiration, inviting viewers to consider how what we wear communicates who we are—and who we want to be

✨ Big news, Regina! ✨ I’m absolutely thrilled to invite you all to a special Open House and first look at my new home inside the Creative City Centre, where I have the honour of serving as the Artist in Residence for 2026-2027! Come on down to tour this incredible new building, check out the space, and say hello! While this isn’t the official grand opening for my piercing and tattoo services just yet, it is the grand opening of the Creative City Centre - it is the perfect, low-pressure opportunity to pop in, meet me, and have a one-on-one consultation about your next piece.I am so incredibly excited to finally bring my solo exhibition, Altar-Native, home to my city- we will be releasing closing reception details down the road - this body of work that originally kicked off a few years back at the Estevan Art Gallery. As a professional body piercer of 10+ years and a versatile body modification artist, I specialize in machine, handpoked, and traditional skin stitch tattooing methods, as well as cauterized branding and scarification. Please keep an eye out for my official services grand opening date coming soon, but for now, come celebrate this new chapter with me, view the art, and explore the new building. I can't wait to meet you all! 🖤
