Physiotherapy Clinics Remain Open in Toronto and Peel.

OPA has confirmed directly with the Chief Medical Officer of Health’s office that physiotherapy clinics in the locked down regions of Toronto and Peel can remain open for appointments in keeping with restrictions in place for physical distancing, patient screening and infection control measures.

This confirms that physiotherapy clinics in all regions in all levels of the government’s COVID-19 framework can remain open for in-person appointments.

So ... open or closed? Well, OPEN for emergency treatment and telehealth appointments. CLOSED for in person non emergency problems.

What is an emergency? If your condition does not receive care would you: be at risk for harm or suffering (meaning: at risk for hospital admission, long term incapacity, or would your chronic condition worsen to a point you might not recover).

So our college suggests: incapacitating pain or dysfunction, significant deterioration, and post hospital discharge where admission/readmission is to be prevented or an essential health care provider who needs care to return to work.

These have been the government directives since March 23, 2020. Like everyone we await reopening when it is deemed safe to do so. Meanwhile stay safe and stay home. Keep exercising!!
