Novus Rehab

Novus Rehab Novus Rehab is there for you following your motor vehicle accident to help you access the services you need for your recovery. Novus Rehab is a team of experienced health care professionals who provide rehabilitation services to our clientele following injury or illness; most often this work occurs after a motor vehicle accident.

Legislative changes in automobile insurance policies often make it difficult for people to understand and manoeuvre the system. Our caring staff will provide assistance at all levels so that you receive the treatment that you need and can focus on getting better. We collaborate with your insurance company, legal representative, workplace/school and treating practitioners to ensure that you and your family are fully supported. In most cases, your treatment is fully funded by your automobile insurance. Our clinical staff work across Southwestern and Central Ontario, essentially from the Toronto area to Sarnia/Windsor and north to Owen Sound.

Mission: To support our clientele in their personal recovery journey through the provision of clinically excellent care with a focus on compassion, respect, commitment and personal connection.

I love this analogy but take absolutely no credit for writing it!

You are holding a cup of coffee when someone comes along and bumps into you or shakes your arm, making you spill your coffee everywhere.
Why did you spill the coffee?
"Because someone bumped into me!!!"
Wrong answer.
You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup.
Had there been tea in the cup, you would have spilled tea.
*Whatever is inside the cup is what will spill out.*
Therefore, when life comes along and shakes you (which WILL happen), whatever is inside you will come out. It's easy to fake it, until you get rattled.
*So we have to ask ourselves... “what's in my cup?"*
When life gets tough, what spills over?
Joy, gratefulness, peace and humility?
Anger, bitterness, harsh words and reactions?
Life provides the cup, YOU choose how to fill it.
Today let's work towards filling our cups with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, words of affirmation; and kindness, gentleness and love for others.

We work with clients with brain injuries every day, and we often hear of their frustrations and challenges dealing with their auto insurance companies.

Thanks to ABISS and McMaster University for investigating the hard questions around the experience of individuals seriously injured in motor vehicle accidents. Together, they conducted a survey looking at the experience of Ontarians with brain injuries in accessing auto insurance benefits for rehabilitation and income replacement.

As with any industry, there are really good insurance companies, adjusters, and rehab companies out there too, but this survey confirms there is definitely room to improve for the auto sector as a whole.

See the survey summary:

London, Ont. physical therapist creates new type of walker to help prevent dangerous falls

Many of our injured clients use a walker temporarily, or permanently, after their injuries. This new walker design, from right here in London, looks very interesting!

Wagner Souza was 19 years old when he was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis which impaired his ability to walk, and that has inspired him to help others get around more easily.

Congrats to one of our community partners, Sari Shatil at Neuphysio on this recognition as An Unsung Hero for this Paralympic athlete.

“Sari believed in me before I was a Paralympian and encouraged me and pushed me to reach my full potential after my accident,” said Ideson, who was in a helicopter crash in 2007. “I didn’t know what my potential was, it was almost like Sari could see in the future and she kept pushing me to strive for my best.”

The Novus Rehab solution to ensuring our clients have access to masks during our home visits!!!

Resuming face-to-face visits with clients in COVID times has been exciting and challenging all at the same time. We have been working hard behind the scenes to secure PPE, put protocols in place, and complete training to ensure the safety of our staff, our clients and their family members. In addition to making sure our staff have an adequate supply of medical masks, we will now be providing any client who needs one with a cloth mask for them to keep, to wear when we visit and wherever else they may need one. This will not only help keep clients and staff safe, but also helps preserve the supply of medical masks for our frontline workers.
