Today, I am making myself a priority. 🤍
Today, I gave myself permission to step away.
I took an unpaid vacation day from work, freeing myself from an afternoon shift and an on-call overnight. And honestly? It feels good to release myself from a responsibility I no longer wanted to carry today.
I allowed myself to sleep in this morning. I slept in warm, fuzzy socks and had the best sleep, filled with vivid dreams. I lit a candle and sipped my coffee slowly, without rushing to the next thing.
I had a massage appointment this morning to focus on my right arm. I've been dealing with olecranon bursitis, and my physical therapist suggested adding massage therapy to support my healing.
Massage isn't usually something I enjoy, and I felt nervous knowing how painful and sensitive this area has been. Before my appointment, I hopped into the hot tub to help my body relax.
I looked up at the grey skies, noticed the changing colours of the leaves, and felt the cool wind against my face.
My mind tried to hurry me along, already thinking about what needed to happen next. But I gently reminded myself that I didn't need to rush. I could simply be here, in this moment.
And so, I sat still. I breathed. I allowed myself to slow down.
When it was time to leave for my appointment, I went without rushing. And you know what? I wasn't nervous at all.
I felt open to the experience and hopeful that massage therapy would become another way to support my healing.
Afterward, I came home to my quiet house. I lit a bunch of candles — not just one! 🕯️and sat in stillness. I made a hot cup of tea, snuggled with my dog, and let myself simply “be”.
No rushing. No pressure to be productive. No need to be anywhere else.
Just me, my quiet space, and the gentle reminder that I deserve this time, too.
Today reminded me that self-care isn't always about doing more. Sometimes, it's about giving ourselves permission to do less.
It's about listening to what our bodies need, noticing when our minds are rushing us through life, and choosing to slow down.
It's about releasing the guilt of saying no to something so we can say yes to ourselves.
And sometimes, the most healing thing we can do is create a little space to breathe, rest, and reconnect with ourselves.
Today, I gave myself the gift of spending the day with myself. And for that, I am grateful. 🤍
**Now, I'd love to hear from you.**
