RMTs: get your 14 CE credits before the year closes!

📅 The Breast & Chest Massage Therapy class runs November 7 & 8.

Over two days you'll get hands-on clinical technique, anatomy, physiology and lymphatics, and a trauma-informed approach to an area most of us were never taught to treat.

You'll earn 14 CE credits and leave with the confidence to offer this work safely and within scope.

Taught by Pam Fichtner, RMT, with 25+ years in women's health, and featured at the Canadian Massage Conference in Calgary this year.

Women are very good at making time for everyone except themselves.

Waiting until life slows down usually means waiting a long time.

One Saturday. Then it’s gone.

If you’ve been reading about the Women’s Wellness Retreat and thinking, “That sounds lovely. I
could really use that. Maybe I’ll go,” this is me giving you the little push.

Come.

I’m packing and getting everything ready for tomorrow, and this is always one of my favourite parts.

I get to see everything I’ve been planning turn into a real day with real women in the room.

You’ll learn more about your breast and chest health, what’s normal for you, how the lymphatic
system plays a role, and simple self-care you can actually use at home.

And you’ll get one whole day where you don’t have to fit yourself around everyone else.

October 17 at Ancient Spirals.

JOIN US THIS SATURDAY

If you know a woman who keeps saying she needs to make more time for herself, send this to her
too.

I’ll see you there!

Can you answer what’s “normal” for your breasts without Googling it?

Swipe through to test yourself. 👉

I’m part of the University Women’s Centre’s Who Needs Feminism Anyway? week this October, and on Monday, October 19 at 5 p.m. I’ll be leading Is This Normal? A Get-to-Know-Your-Breasts Workshop at the Women’s Centre at the U of S.

It’s free, and everyone’s welcome.

Save the date, and share this with your daughter, mother, sister, or a friend.

You can keep putting yourself at the bottom of the list if that’s working for you.

Or you could give yourself one full day focused on breast and chest health.

This day may be for you if your breasts get sore or tender with hormonal changes, you notice swelling or fullness through your chest or underarms, you’ve had breast surgery and things still feel tight or different, you’re not really sure what’s normal for your own breasts, or you simply know you should make more time for yourself but rarely do.

You don’t have to be dealing with a major problem to come.

After nearly 30 years working with women and their breast health, one thing I’ve noticed is how many of us know very little about our breasts until something goes wrong.

That’s a big part of why I created this retreat.

You’ll learn practical breast and lymphatic self-care, get to ask the questions we don’t talk about enough, and spend one whole day actually paying attention to yourself.

I didn’t know what to say when my grandma showed me her mastectomy scar.

It was in 1989/1990 - I was in my 20s, and that kind of thing was not talked about openly.

She had breast cancer, had a mastectomy, came home, and life carried on.

But it stayed with me.

I remember wondering what it meant for her, what it meant for the women in our family, and whether breast cancer might happen to me one day too.

Looking back, I can see how much that experience shaped the work I eventually chose.

It’s one of the reasons I care so deeply about helping people understand their breast health, ask questions, and feel supported before, during and after breast cancer.

If you or someone in your family wishes they could be more open about this stuff, just know I'm thinking about you this month, and my inbox is always open. 💜

For a lot of women, we hear about lumps, mammograms, diagnosis and treatment.

We hear far less about learning what’s normal for our own breasts before something feels wrong.

But "normal" isn't one thing. It shifts with your cycle, your age, pregnancy, and it's different from one person to the next.

Do you even know what to feel for?

It’s important to talk about breast cancer. But we shouldn’t skip what comes before it.

A client recently asked me something she’d been too embarrassed to ask anyone for years.

It makes me think of Sue Johanson, who taught a whole generation that our bodies aren't shameful, and that no question is too silly to ask about your own body.

So, I want to answer it out loud, for all of you. 💜

Q: “I think my ni***es have changed direction. Is that a thing?”

A gradual change over years is very different from a sudden change on one side.

Ni***es can naturally change position and direction over time. Hormones, pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight shifts, aging, and tissue changes all affect how breasts sit and move.

Most of those changes are completely normal.

What’s worth paying attention to:
• a sudden change
• one side changing noticeably
• dimpling or puckering
• anything that feels distinctly different for your body

I made a simple infographic to help.

👉 Comment “CHECK” and I’ll send it to you privately.

There are no embarrassing questions here. And a question is never too small, too weird, or too late. If you know someone who needs to hear this, please share. 💜

And if you have a question you’ve been too shy to ask, my inbox is open for you.
