Elmwood residents have so many talents, and our Annual Elmwood Art Gala was the perfect opportunity to celebrate them! ✨

Last week, members of Art Club, Photography Club, Drama Club, and Move ‘n’ Groove Crew shared the results of months of hard work, creativity, and practice.

The evening began with a fantastic performance from our Move ‘n’ Groove Crew, led by instructor Sarah, followed by a lively Drama Club presentation that showcased everything participants have been working on this year with instructor Nicole. 🎶🎭

Guests also enjoyed beautiful displays from Photography Club and Art Club, featuring artwork and photographs that reflected the new skills and techniques learned over the past year.

A heartfelt thank you to our instructors for their guidance and support, and to all the family members and friends who joined us for this special celebration. 💖

Today we want to celebrate Patrick, who achieved a special goal back in August! 🎉

The Saskatoon Exhibition is a highlight of the summer, so it was no surprise when Patrick set a goal of attending the Ex during his Person-Centred Planning meeting in the spring.

As you can see from this photo, Patrick spent the day playing carnival games (and winning a few prizes!), as well as enjoying some rides. 🎡🎪

Way to go on achieving your goal, Patrick!

Last weekend was made extra special with the return of the Kinsmen Broadway Movie! This time, residents enjoyed a screening of the Little Rascals, complete with all the movie-day favorites. 📽

This bi-annual event is always a resident favorite, and we're so grateful to our friends at the Kinsmen Club of Saskatoon for making it possible. Their generous support ensures every resident can enjoy a fun day at the movies, treats included! 🍿

What can we say but thank you! 💖

The Elmwood Fall Feast, presented by Affinity Credit Union (Affinity CU) was truly something special, and we're incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make it our best one yet.

A heartfelt thank you to Leslie and Shailynn for sharing their stories, the Elmwood Moove 'n' Groove with Sarah group for lighting up the stage, Angela and Nicole for filling the room with beautiful music, and of course, our amazing emcee Brittany Caffet and our incredible auction host Whitney Graves, both from Rawlco Radio. ✨

We're also so thankful to our sponsors for believing in the vision of the Elmwood Community Hub and helping make this unforgettable evening possible.

And of course, a huge shoutout to our incredible partners at Black Door Events, Prairieland Park, Gossner Productions, and King Rose Visuals, along with our dedicated Board of Directors and every Elmwood team member who worked behind the scenes to bring Fall Feast to life. 🫶

Most importantly, thank you to our community. Your support brings us one step closer to creating the Elmwood Community Hub, a place where people with disabilities and the broader community can connect, grow, and thrive.

Stay tuned for event photos and our final fundraising total. We can't wait to share the impact of this amazing night with you! 👋

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM)! 💜

At Elmwood, we’re proud to celebrate the many contributions people with disabilities make in workplaces and communities every day. We’re also proud to be an employer that values inclusion and the unique strengths of every team member.

As part of SARC Saskatchewan’s Light It Up! for NDEAM initiative, several of the pillars were lit purple at last night's event in recognition of the importance of inclusive employment and workplace accessibility.

Tomorrow is the big day, and we can't wait for you to hear from our incredible speakers at the Elmwood Fall Feast, presented by Affinity Credit Union! 💖

For the first time ever, we're thrilled to feature a keynote address presented by Uranium Energy Corp. and delivered by Shailynn Taylor. A disability advocate, motivational speaker, and proud Saskatchewan resident, Shailynn brings a unique perspective on inclusion, resilience, and embracing every opportunity. We're excited to welcome her to the stage!

We're also pleased to introduce this year's guest speaker, Leslie F., presented by JPH Consulting. Since joining the Elmwood community just over a year ago, Leslie has become a familiar and valued friend to many. Whether he's spending time at home with his roommates or joining recreational outings, Leslie's laidback attitude and love of connecting with others shines through. ✨

We look forward to sharing these powerful stories with you tomorrow!
