A career marked by leadership. A gift that will keep making a difference.

To honour Alain Gaucher’s retirement, Alain and the Saskatoon partners of MLT Aikins made a collective $150,000 gift to support the Irene and Leslie Dubé Centre for Mental Health at Royal University Hospital.

The gift reflects a long-standing commitment to community and will help support compassionate, patient- and family-centred mental health care for years to come.

Portable ultrasounds. Faster answers. Better care when seconds matter.

You may have heard Dr. Susan Shaw speaking with Brent Loucks on 650 CKOM’s The Experts on October 10 about the importance of having the right technology at the bedside when caring for critically ill patients.

“Seconds matter in my world,” says Dr. Shaw.

As Royal University Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit expands from 19 beds to 26 single-patient rooms, RUH Foundation is raising $350,000 for two portable ultrasound machines and a cardiac probe.

These tools will give physicians real-time information to assess critically ill patients, make faster treatment decisions and provide care when every second counts.

❤️ This fall, your generosity will have double the impact! Thanks to Westbridge Capital Ltd., all donations will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $175,000.

Read the full story (Ready from Day One) from our Fall Momentum newsletter: https://ruhf.org/news/ and listen to CKOM’s audio recording.

Our Fall 2026 issue of Momentum is here!

Inside, you'll meet people like Candace, whose experiences in RUH's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) highlight the importance of having life-saving technology ready when it's needed most, and Jerrilee, a young woman who turned gratitude for the care she received into a community fundraiser for mental health.

You'll also discover how donor generosity is bringing specialized cardiac care closer to home, strengthening trauma training in northern Saskatchewan, and advancing research and specialized medical training.

These are just some of the ways your generosity is making a difference for patients and families across Saskatchewan. 💙

A trip to the movies. A cup of coffee. A bag of chips.

For most of us, these are easy to take for granted. For participants in Path to Recovery — a first-of-its-kind program for people living with both mental health challenges and stimulant use — these small rewards are a lifeline that keeps them connected to care.

When psychiatrist Dr. Isaac Cheveldae brought the research forward, no program like it existed in Saskatchewan. A $35,000 gift from an anonymous donor launched the pilot in January 2025.

"Even though there is a lot of evidence behind it, we had hit a roadblock with funding. Without the generous donor, this program would not have been a reality," says Dr. Cheveldae.

Twenty participants have completed the program so far. Health teams across the province are now asking how to bring it to their communities.

"It gave me a renewed desire to be a 'part of.' And for so many of us, that's our biggest hardship between recovery and the other way." — Greg H., program participant

This year, $145,000 in Community and Mental Health Endowment grants supported 7 programs like this one across RUH.

This year, your generosity funded $5.7 million in high-priority initiatives at RUH, including leading-edge surgical technology, mental health programs, and the fellowship training that brings specialists back to Saskatchewan.

82% went directly to patient care, 11% to research, and 7% to education, training the next generation of health-care professionals who'll care for Saskatchewan patients for decades to come.

✨ Congratulations to Dr. Camelia Adams, recipient of the 2026 Women Leading Philanthropy $100,000 Grant! 💜

🗣️ The project: Saskatchewan Trauma Clinic Initiative: Improving Care, Advancing Research, and Training the Next Generation

💡 The vision: A new clinic at Royal University Hospital offering trauma-informed care and building research to improve mental health treatment across the province.

Last night, Women Leading Philanthropy donors heard from three inspiring short-listed candidates before casting their votes to determine which project would receive this year’s $100,000 grant.

Thank you to our WLP donors for making this investment possible through the power of collective giving.

We can’t wait to follow Dr. Adams as her project moves forward and share the impact made possible by your generosity.

Your voice. Your vote. Your impact. 💜

Since 1983, donors across Saskatchewan and beyond have given more than $200 million to Royal University Hospital. Some of these gifts funded pilot projects that have become standard of care. Others helped bring advanced technology to Saskatchewan, from the province’s first MRI scanner in 1989 to the first stereotactic neurosurgical robot in 2026. All of this happened because they believed better care belonged here.

We're connected by care. Thank you for being part of it.

Thank you to the Dakota Dunes Community Development Corporation for a $300,000 gift to improve liver care for people across Saskatchewan. 💙

This gift has purchased new, portable FibroScan equipment for Royal University Hospital. A FibroScan measures scarring and fat in the liver using sound waves, with no needles and no sedation, and gives results during the same appointment.

One in four Canadians are affected by chronic liver disease. It usually causes no symptoms until it has already done damage, and many patients are diagnosed only after their treatment options have narrowed. This equipment means our team can find the problem years earlier, when treatment can stop the damage before it becomes permanent.

The gift also supports the creation of a pilot program in cooperation with the seven member First Nations of the Saskatoon Tribal Council (STC) – opening the door to bringing testing into community, meeting patients where they are.

"This gift changes what we can offer patients. DDCDC recognized a need in their communities and backed it, and we are grateful for that trust and for the chance to work in partnership for the benefit of people across our province." – Jennifer Molloy, CEO, RUH Foundation
