I cannot recommend Kandace at Coastal Healing highly enough. I was suffering since January with an injury that caused a previous injury with my back to flare up. I could barely move and everyday tasks felt impossible. I had injured my lower back on a trip back home to Toronto with my daughters. It was a living nightmare trying to get back home being unable to walk and had two small children including a baby in tow. I actually missed my flight and had to rebook days later because I ended up in the emergency department due to severe pain. They prescribed me pain relief medication amongst other NSAIDs for the inflammation. I had a six month old baby at the time and I was not able to even walk without assistance. I was using a cane and my husband was taking time off of work to assist me with my daily living activities. I could not stand alone nor could I even use the washroom without assistance. My lower back was specifically injured at the L4-L5 up to S1 levels after an MRI scan. Several trips to the hospital for pain relief as it was worsening being a mother of five at home and trying to care for my family let alone for myself. It was extremely difficult and I was becoming severely depressed not being able to move around. Sleeping was difficult as well as I had to lay down in a specific position with two pillows between my legs and practically not move all night or it would cause excruciating pain to the point where I was in tears. I have never taken pain medication in my whole life and that is all the physicians seemed to do for me was give me pain medication and continue to increase it but the pain was so severe that it was still not helping. I did not have a family doctor as of then so I was having to visit the emergency department almost every week and sit there in pain or on a stretcher with IV pain relief due to the severity of the situation. I went close to 7-8 times before I discovered Kandace and her practice.

I got in touch with Kandace and booked as soon as I could. I was on the priority list for a surgeon in Halifax as we were at that stage of the diagnosis and the physicians believed that spinal surgery was the next step. I was highly opposed to the idea but needed to act quickly as I could no longer live this way.

Prior to the appointment in Halifax, I went to visit Kandace and had my initial assessment and she took the time to review my medical history, the details of the injury and so fourth. From the very first session, I noticed a difference. I was able to stand up straight without screaming. I was able to move and bend. I did not need anyone to pick up anything for me. I was able to sit in the bath once again. This was all after the first session. It was almost like a real life miracle just happened and I could not believe it. I was truly astonished. For months, I was not able to pick up my children and especially my baby which just devasted me. My husband used to pass her to me after he gently sat me down. There were nights I tried to go to the washroom and could not move and would end up crouched on the floor at the side of the couch where I had to sleep for months because I could not do the stairs. Many times we almost had called an ambulance because I was screaming in agony.

Kandace’s gentle, intuitive approach with bowen therapy and reiki helped my body to being to heal in ways I did not think were possible. Over a short period of time, attending weekly – the pain continued to decrease. My mobility had returned and I was finally able to get back to living my life without the constant agony of sciatica and lower back pain.

Kandace is incredibly knowledgeable and experienced and truly cares about her clients well being and treats you like one of her own. Just like family. It was one of the best experiences I can look back on.

I am forever grateful to Kandace for the healing experience I received. I give endless thanks to her for helping me be able to walk again and live my life once again. She changed my life and I whole heartedly recommend Kandace. I will continue to return to her for maintenance and ensuring my chronic pain do not return. I highly recommend her to anyone living with chronic pain or experiencing a new injury. I have already referred a few friends of mine to her and they just rave about her work. Truly phenomenal experience.

What a launch it has been! Ailments addressed in the last little bit:

Cranial drain to relieve migraine due to sinus congestion, degenerative arthritis @ hips, seasonal allergies, repetitive strain injury @ lower back, pinched sciatic nerve, Repetitive strain/ROM @ shoulder, tension reduction from manual labour @ back and shoulders, rheumatoid arthritis, carpal tunnel and relaxation packages.

A typical session starts with intake and a confidential health history assessment discussing any and all potential factors impacting your comfort and quality of life from old injuries to chronic disease and stress related concerns. We then proceed to the treatment area that has been illuminated and set for optimal relaxation. Your practitioner then applies a series of specific, roll over motions reflective of osteopathy and acupressure points with minimal communication encouraging rest and a receptive nature to your treatment with 2 minute integrations between each application. Each session runs approximately 1 hour.
