TRUTH BOMBS 💣 from a 42-year-old mum, wife & doctor

There is SO much hype, misinformation and glossy Instagram content in aesthetics. And honestly? Some of it worries me.

My goal with this page is simple: to educate you about evidence-based, safe aesthetic medicine so you can make informed choices about your face, your body and who you trust with them.

Does being a doctor automatically make me good at aesthetics? Absolutely not.

A medical degree doesn’t magically make someone a great injector.

But my medical training combined with years of specialising in aesthetics means I have a deep understanding of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and, importantly, how to recognise and manage complications when things don’t go to plan.

I’ve spent years travelling around the world, training on specialist courses, learning 1:1 from world experts and constantly updating my knowledge. I now also teach doctors and nurses in aesthetics because I genuinely believe your safety should always come before the latest trend, the biggest lips or the most Instagrammable result.

For me, good aesthetics isn’t about making everyone look the same.

It’s about evidence, anatomy, safety, individuality and helping you look like the best version of YOU.

And no… that doesn’t make me a perfect mum, wife, doctor or runner 😂

I’m 42. I have three boys. I work. I train. I sometimes eat the biscuits. I definitely don’t have it all figured out.

But I’ll keep learning, keep questioning the hype and keep trying my best, both in clinic and in life. ❤️

If you’re here for honest, evidence-based aesthetics without the BS… you’re in the right place.

Three days in Squamish ✨

✔️ 45 amazing patients
✔️ 2,500 units of Botox
✔️ 10 syringes of filler
❤️ And most importantly… 45 wonderful catch-ups with some truly beautiful humans.

My feet are aching, my heart is so full, and my cup is overflowing.

One of my lovely patients asked me today, “How’s home?” I replied, “It’s so good to be back.” She smiled and said, “No… I meant the UK.”

It made me stop and think. The truth is, I genuinely feel like I have a home in both places. Squamish will always hold such a special place in my heart. The people here, the friendships, the trust you’ve placed in me over the years is something I’ll never take for granted.

This community is pure magic.

Thank you for another incredible few days. I already can’t wait to come back and see you all again soon. 🤍 🇨🇦

Canada Day feels a little different this year. ❤️🇨🇦

It’s so special to be back in Canada. I’m here working hospital shifts, but I was lucky enough to have some time between them to get back out into the wilderness to soak up this incredible country and be reminded why I fell in love with it all those years ago.

Although I’m only visiting this time, I feel incredibly lucky to now be a Canadian citizen and to call this beautiful country home too.

Being here in Bella Bella, surrounded by such an amazing Indigenous community, has also reminded me that today isn’t simply about celebrating. Canada’s history means this day holds very different feelings for many people, and I think that’s something worth acknowledging.

So today, for me, is about gratitude. For this beautiful country, for the people who have welcomed me over the years, and for the privilege of being able to call Canada a second home, but it’s also about listening, learning and reflecting.

💉 BOTOX MYTHS: BUSTED 💉

There are so many myths surrounding Botox, so let’s separate fact from fiction!

❌ “Botox causes cancer.”
False. Botox has been extensively studied and has been used medically since the 1980s and cosmetically for over 30 years.

❌ “Botox lifts the face.”
False. Botox relaxes specific muscles to soften lines and wrinkles. It does not physically lift tissues. Other treatments may be needed for lifting and volume restoration.

❌ “Botox will make you look older.”
False. When used appropriately, Botox can help reduce the appearance of dynamic wrinkles and may even help slow the formation of deeper lines over time.

❌ “Botox can give you botulism.”
False. Cosmetic Botox uses tiny, highly purified doses of botulinum toxin administered by trained medical professionals. It does not cause botulism when used correctly.

✅ The truth? Botox is one of the most researched aesthetic treatments available, with decades of medical and cosmetic use behind it.

At The Face MD, we treat patients, not clients.

Many of the treatments we provide involve prescription-only medications, including neuromodulators such as Botox. Just like any other prescription medication, there is never a “one size fits all” approach.

Every face is different, every medical history is different, and every desired outcome is different. That’s why a full medical consultation is always carried out before treatment. We take time to understand your medical background, discuss your goals, and create a personalised treatment plan tailored specifically to you.

A good comparison is blood pressure medication; some people require only a very small dose, while others may need more to achieve the desired effect. Neuromodulators are exactly the same. Someone with very strong muscle movement or deeper lines may naturally require a different dose to someone looking for a very subtle result.

Safe, ethical and individualised treatment will always come first at The Face MD.

“If you could only choose ONE aesthetic treatment, what would it be?” 🤍

Honestly… it completely depends on your personal goals.

Are you wanting to improve pigmentation?
Refine skin texture?
Look a little less tired and more refreshed?
Or are you looking for overall rejuvenation?

There’s never a one-size-fits-all answer, which is exactly why consultations are so important. We take the time to discuss not only your goals, but also your budget. Life is expensive and aesthetic treatments should feel realistic, tailored, and achievable for you.

And no matter what treatment you choose, you need to protect your investment 👏

My skincare ABCs are always:

A — Vitamin A (retinol)
B — Broad-spectrum sunscreen
C — Vitamin C serum

Consistent skincare will always be the foundation of healthy, glowing skin ✨

Transparency, always 🤍

I get asked a lot what I’ve had done… so here it is. No filters, no gatekeeping.

This isn’t a checklist! You don’t need all (or any) of these treatments. In clinic, it’s always about your goals (and your budget).

For me, it’s consistency over time. Subtle, natural tweaks that keep you looking like you, just more refreshed.

And I only offer treatments I’ve tried myself so I speak from experience, not just science.

(And yes- I forgot PRP! I also offer and have had PRP under my eyes… total game changer 👀✨)

You, but refreshed ✨

A little more about my background because I truly believe this matters when it comes to your face.

I’m a GP and ER doctor, and over the past few years I’ve trained internationally in aesthetic medicine across the UK, Canada and the US. I’ve also had the privilege of working as an educator with in Canada, alongside running my own clinic, The Face MD.

When choosing an injector, it’s not just about titles. It’s about training, experience, and understanding. A medical background alone doesn’t automatically make someone a great injector, but a deep knowledge of facial anatomy, structure, and complications is absolutely essential.

Every face is different, and even in the most experienced hands, complications can occur. What matters is that the person treating you understands how to assess, treat, and manage these safely.

For me, aesthetics has always been about delivering natural, subtle results but safely, and with integrity.

Retinol… one of the most talked about ingredients in skincare, and for good reason ✨

It boosts collagen, improves skin texture, helps with pigmentation and fine lines… basically your skin’s long-term best friend.

But what about retinol vs tretinoin?

Retinol = over-the-counter, gentler, slower results
Tretinoin = prescription strength, works faster, but can be more irritating

Both work, it just depends on your skin, your goals, and how much downtime you’re willing to tolerate.

Start low, go slow, and ALWAYS wear SPF (non-negotiable ☀️)

…and yes, one of these days I will film one of these videos with my hair and makeup actually done (but post-run real life is what you’re getting for now 😂🏃‍♀️)
