This is what Patriarchy in relationships look like:

His entitlement meets her accommodation.
His disconnection meets her overfunctioning.
His avoidance of relational responsibility meets her assumption of relational responsibility.

The pronouns are interchangeable. What isn't interchangeable is the power dynamic that creates "one up" positioning which inevitably leaves the other person "one down".

Healthy relationships meet in the middle. If you're one up, you come down. If you're one down, you come up.

"I ain't better than nobody, ain't nobody better than me" is my favourite expression of true self worth. It's also true in relationship dynamics.

🩵🩵🩵I desire health but resist the changes that I need to make to support it. There is a part of me that doesn’t like being told what to do. And there’s another part of me that feels like they need access to the calming affects of sugar or they might die. There is yet another part of me who chastises these two parts for existing. I need to recognize, love and nurture all three in gentle ways that don’t make them feel forgotten. Moving towards acceptance & integration of ALL my parts. 🩵🩵🩵
