The place where the head meets the spine.

The occiput forms the back and base of the skull, surrounding the opening where the brainstem continues into the spinal cord. It’s also where the skull meets the first bone of the neck.

In my sessions, you may notice this is a place my hands return to again and again.

I’m listening to movement, tension, ease (not just within the occiput itself but in how it’s relating to the neck, bones of the head and membranes around it).

There’s so much happening at this place of the head but the work is usually one of staying, listening and following what happens next.
