💊🥳 Exciting news from NCODA! 💊🥳

Join us for our Annual Movember Mustache Event!

This week, NCODA UofT is collaborating with other NCODA chapters across Canada to present our "Movember Mustaches" event, which aims to spark conversations and inspire action for men’s health including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health matters.

🗓Mark your Calendars: November 24, 11am-3pm

This Friday we will have a table set up outside of PB B150 where students can engage, learn, and create! Are you interested in pursuing a career in oncology pharmacy? Are you unsure about where to start and would like some guidance? If so, then a great opportunity is coming up!

National Community Oncology Dispensing Association (NCODA) Student Chapters at the University of Toronto, University of Alberta, University of Manitoba, and Memorial University of Newfoundland recently established a Canadian-wide oncology Pharmacy Mentorship Program (PMP). This program was created to provide pharmacy students and trainees across Canada with opportunities to connect with oncology pharmacy professionals and explore early careers in cancer care.

The program is currently recruiting for mentees! Any and all pharmacy students interested in a career in oncology pharmacy and cancer care are strongly encouraged to enroll. Due to the limited number of pairing, we encourage students to put forth strong applications that display a passion and fascination in oncology.

What will you provide and gain as a mentee?

- Demonstrate enthusiasm and curiosity towards oncology pharmacy
- Receive guidance and support for one’s pharmacy journey and career goals
- Network and develop professional relationships with pharmacists in oncology
- Obtain an early awareness of unique career opportunities in oncology
- Personal and professional development

Looking to get exposure to oncology and/or clinical review?NCODA is looking for volunteers to review PQIs.

PQIs (or Positive Quality Interventions) are peer-reviewed clinical guidance documents for healthcare providers. PQIs equip the entire multidisciplinary care team with a sophisticated yet simple-to-use resource for managing patients receiving oncolytics.

After a PQI has been created by a HCP, NCODA seeks students to help review them. The task generally entails:
- Reviewing the content for grammar, spelling errors, and formating
- Double checking that all clinical indications are in the PQI
- Double checking that no data is missing (e.g. did a medication get overall survival since the PQI was last published?)
- Take the referenced material and highlight referenced text in the PQI

PQIs are generally 3-4 pages in length and the time commitment will vary depending on the depth of your work. This experience can be included on your C.V.

If this opportunity is of interest to you, you can sign up here https://forms.gle/VTBa2XdrzusRKa5M7 or email Natasha at [email protected]
