I I was made aware by my college, the CMTO, that registered massage therapists were able to receive the Pfizer vaccine. To my surprise, I received a notification two weeks later. I didn't think it would come so soon, based on the status of the role out at that time. I was vaccinated at the MARS building at the corner of Dundas and University. Each shot had an expiration time on it, mine was at 4:57pm if I remember correctly, it was around 12:15pm. After the required 15 minute wait time, I had no side effects and headed out. The whole procedure took around 25 minutes and everyone was very friendly. The following day I had some arm soreness and that was about it.
I know there are other professions who are exposed daily who are not currently eligible to receive their vaccines yet. I hope these professionals get prioritized and this role out gets up to speed ASAP!

I Ran 🏃 ladders back when I was a member of the Etobicoke Husky Striders track club as a teenager and they’re just as brutal as I remember them 👍🏻.

What are they?
Pick four destinations, run to the first and walk back to your starting position(recovery) run to second and walk back, the third, then the fourth. You’re at the top of the ladder 👏🏼

Now you’re heading down and you will run to the third, walk back, the second and finally the first and you’re done ✅

These are sprints so make sure you have a five minute warm up jog beforehand.

We did these on a track so we didn’t have to walk back to where we came. We’d run 100mtrs walk 100mtrs all the way to 400mtrs. I’m doing it in a straight line now hence walking back to where I started.

Give it a shot 🏃‍♀️ and the sign on this see saw was btwn the ages of 5 yrs and 49 yrs btw ⏰ ✌️ Book your RMT sessions via the link in my bio 🖐

Try these 2 techniques to get the most from your ab roller!

What does it work?

Calling it an ab roller doesn't do it justice, it works so much more than just your abdominals and doing it properly will help you get the most out of this little wheel. When it is done properly, it works your abdominals, lats, hip flexors, wrist flexors, grip strength, upper back, hip extensors including your glutes and hamstrings.

What are your goals?

To use the ab roller properly you want to start out in a position of hip flexion(bent at the hips) with your hands under your shoulders, extend(straighten out) your hips, shoulders bringing yourself as close to the ground as possible and then return to the starting position.

What might be going wrong?

With the goal of getting your hips fully extended and your chest as close to the floor as possible....how do you get back to where you started and what if you can't? In my experience training people, I believe they become aware of their difficulties getting back up from the ground and figure out creative ways to get back to from where they came.

Problems with Hips descending?

On descending, keeping your hips in a flexed or not fully extended position. Keeping the hips back while letting the wheel and arms roll away from their body, allows you to get back to the starting position but it's not getting the most out of the exercise.

Problems with Hips ascending?

In the case where you do get full hip extension as well as shoulder extension, not having the strength to get back up, you will tend to bring their hips back first thus eliminating all the work for the lats and abdominals and simply pull your arms back towards your legs.

Fall on your face solution!

Whether you are not fully extending your hips or are bringing your hips back first, try this. Fall on your face and don't worry about getting back to the starting position. Roll out, extend your hips, let your arms get away from your body and lower yourself to the floor as slowly as possible, pick yourself up and start again. This way you get used to the feeling of what extending your hips really feels like. Put a mat underneath yourself to cushion the blow.

Hey guys I won't be RMT'ing this weekend. Check the site for spaces this Tuesday and Friday 🙌

10/03/2019

Simple? Yes, easy no!
Pushups are going to work your chest, arms, core and hips. You don’t need any thing but floor space and some motivation to do this three times a week. Dig the ‘80’s music 🎶
1️⃣ hands are under and as wide as your shoulders. Descend keeping your elbows tight to your torso slowly and push back up.
2️⃣ wider hand position underneath your shoulders. When you descend make sure your elbows are below(towards your feet)the heads of your shoulders.
3️⃣ hands are in a more narrow position with less space btwn them. Again descend and at the bottom make sure your elbows are below your shoulders.
4️⃣ keep your hips facing the floor as you dig the toes of one foot into the ground as you raise the other. Back is straight hips are neutral(hip flexors engaged) and hands are beneath your shoulders
Do this rotation 3 sets by 10-12 reps You can lower your self slowly and push up quickly or go slow both ways. Be aware of the rest between each group and take an extended break after you’ve done all four. Do these on your knees if necessary...)

Our Story

Education and Work Experience:

Since graduating from Sutherland Chan School with a specialty in sports massage, Dru has been successfully practicing as a Registered Massage Therapist (“RMT”) in downtown Toronto for over 10 years. His primary focus has been on sports massage therapy, including rehabilitation and remedial exercises in a variety of settings. Dru works with many clients via Goodlife Gyms and Multidisciplinary Clinics, alongside Physiotherapists, Chiropractors, Osteopaths and Naturopaths. He utilizes dynamic and active release techniques, as well as traditional Swedish massage to help with pain relief, relaxation and mental focus.

Self Care:

Dru believes strongly in self-care for his RMT clients, and will prescribe exercises to be done outside of the clinic alongside RMT. Using stretching and breathing techniques for tight muscles, strengthening exercises using thera bands, weights, or body-weight (calisthenics) exercises to help with muscle imbalances, he finds clients with the highest recovery rate are highly involved in their own recovery. Hydrotherapy could also be employed using either hot, cold, or a combination of the two to prescribe and promote blood flow for chronic injuries as well as reduce inflammation for acute injuries.
