A new long-term care community is taking shape in Peterborough. When it opens in 2027, the redeveloped Riverview Manor will become home to 256 residents and provide specialized support for people living with dementia or Alzheimer's disease.

The project is also making an important economic contribution through construction:
• $138.1 million contributed to Ontario's GDP
• $96.4 million generated in labour income

It's an investment in the care seniors need and in the community around them.

For more than 50 years, Babcock Community Care Centre has been part of the fabric of Elgin, Kent, Lambton and Middlesex.

As a family owned, community based long-term care home, Babcock has cared for generations of local families in the Four Counties area. Now, a new chapter is taking shape in Wardsville.

Construction of a new 64 bed home generated $34.5 million in GDP and $24.1 million in labour income, supporting local trades, suppliers and families across the region.

Building modern long-term care does more than create new spaces. It strengthens rural economies, keeps care close to home and ensures seniors can age in the communities they helped build.

A first for This is Long Term Care 2026. Coming of Age is recording in front of a live audience.

What could AI make possible for the way we age? Where is the technology heading? How could it change the way we work? And what will residents and families expect of us in the years ahead?

Host Donna Duncan explores these questions with two leaders shaping what comes next:
• Health futurist Dr. Zayna Khayat, Chief Program Officer at AMS Healthcare, brings a clear view of where technology and care are heading and what leaders need to be ready for it.
• Karen Hay, digital health leader at Salesforce, has a front-row seat to how health systems around the world are putting data and AI to work.

Pull up a chair for the first-ever live recording of Coming of Age, OLTCA’s podcast about the future of aging and seniors’ care. This is what Canada’s leading event for long-term care and innovation is all about.
