You cannot have a healthy brain with an unhealthy gut.
Your microbiome and its microbiota, the hundreds of trillions of bacteria, viruses, fungi and protozoans that live inside of you literally create the expression of yourself that you see, feel and live through.
The gut-brain axis is a delicate act that is constantly trying to remain in a state of ease.
The gut is sending signals to the brain on how it is doing, and the brain is sending signals to the gut on how it is doing and what to do.
If either of these systems are compromised, they will adversely affect the other.
Bloating, burping, fatigue after meals, cravings, gas, reflux, constipation and diarrhea are all signs that the gut side of this equation is off.
Is the other side of the equation off too? Pain, fatigue, cloudy thinking, poor memory and poor cognitive abilities are all signs something is off.
Just like one can affect the other in a negative way, it can also affect it in a positive way.
Feeling good, healthy , happy and fulfilled with your life is an awesome way to allow your digestive system to do what it does best, digest!
Feeling stressed, constantly on the go, burnt out, overwhelmed, anxious and depressed will then negatively impact the gut.
But the gut may also be contributing to it.
When in doubt, take care of the roots(gut) of your being so that you can bear good fruits(function).

In this video I cover some of the most important pieces regarding migraines, headaches, pain, chronic illness and what they have to do with cbd oil, cannabinoids, cannabis and thc.
I discuss what cannabis is and what studies are finding is the mechanism by which everyone is getting so much relief with these substances.
I talk about the endocannabinoid system and its role in chronic diseases and how migraine sufferers are being found with low levels.
Then I go into discussing how its most commonly used, what forms it comes in, what to be careful of and what is being said about it in the medical community.

In this video I talk about 3 keys to burnout exhaustion fatigue and migraines and headaches.
The key is to understand that if we are feeling overwhelmed burnt-out, exhausted and fatigued then our body simply does not have the resources to heal our brain our gut our joints etc.
There are 3 ways to support this and begin to manage it but if you are having severe problems then contact us for an assessment.
Blood sugar is the first area that you have to get a hold of. If your blood sugar is spiking and dropping. If you are getting fatigue or cravings after meals or if you are triggering from fasting and having mood swings then these are all key signs your meals are not balanced.
A balanced meal is one that continues the smooth hum of energy for 4-6 hours afterwards.
If you are already burnt out then you want to use supplemental adaptogens that help your body adapt to stress like:
- Rhodiola
- Ashwagandha
- Cordyceps
- Reishi
And you always want to make sure your hormones are getting tested and dealt with. Hormone dysfunction is one of the biggest contributors to anxiety, depression, fatigue, overwhelm and sleep issues.

In this video, I deal with some of the most important factors you need to understand before, during, and after pregnancy if you have migraines or headaches.
Pregnancy can go either way with migraines and headaches, they can either get better or get worse.
The good news is that it's likely to get better especially into the second and third trimesters.
The body will increase hormones like estrogen and progesterone exponentially as you get farther along in pregnancy.
This along with increasing Diamine Oxidase(DAO) levels helps to support both babies developing body but also moms brain, gut and nervous system.
You want to make sure you're nutritionally optimized with nutrients like:
B vitamins especially folate and not folic acid
Omega 3 fats and plenty of healthy fats and cholesterols in general
Magnesium which you can read more about here: https://migraineprofessional.com/magnesium-glycinate-menstrual-vestibular-migraines/
Pregnancy is a resource-intensive process and needs to be nutritionally supplemented otherwise it will take from mommy's body and once everything's calmed down after birth symptoms may get much worse.

In this video I cover the common connections between fibromyalgia, migraines and headaches and 4 massive triggers of them.
The first and most important is to understand central sensitization and how any added stresses from other systems in our body that are having trouble can add to the sensitizing of our nervous system.
As our nervous system becomes sensitized every added stressors becomes exponentially more painful, damaging and inflammatory.
We can apply this to the threshold effect and how the body summates stress. Our triggers all add to our triggers levels but after our threshold is reached and we begin triggering, every added stress is incredibly painful.
Our nervous system can become sensitized from a number of systems being overburdened and the gut is one of the main.
We need to understand SIBO and Leaky gut and work to fix the dysbiosis in our gut, heal the lining and restore balance to it so that particles are not entering our body and aggravating our immune system.
Whenever we deal with a chronic illness we want to fix our burnout or it will tear our body apart. It just takes too much energy to handle an overwhelmed system. We want to understand the difference between being in our sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems and work to stay parasympathetic.
Magnesium deficiency is incredibly problematic and widespread so it's always a good idea. It acts as water on our nervous systems fire. See our article on magnesium glycinate for migraines here: https://migraineprofessional.com/magnesium-glycinate-menstrual-vestibular-migraines/

In this video I dive into some of the problems with migraine diet lists and why they simply don't work.
It is important that we always address why we are getting food sensitivities which is usually gut issues and that we work to get tested and heal the gut.
We also want to understand the 3 types of food issues:
- Personal allergens which are specific to you and your own sensitivities and nobody elses
- Inflammatory foods which are the food that cause oxidative stress and inflammation to run rampant and aggravate throughout the body
- The top 10 most common trigger foods which studies have shown are very likely to be common in any one single migraine sufferer
. This is partly because of how common they are in the food supply.
When we can address our gut issues and steer clear of these 10 foods that may be throwing gasoline on our brain fires we will be much better equipped to keep the pain at bay.
