This week is a bit emotional for me. It's the last week that I'll work alongside this legend.
Leona Purcell has served this pharmacy for over 50 years. A career that witnessed 3 relocations, and several changes in ownership (me being the last). Leona has faithfully served generations in our community.
Through good times and tremendous hardships, Leona was always there. To me she was more than an employee...she was a pillar, an anchor, a matriarch. It was an honor to serve by your side. We love you Leona.

This holiday season, I'm filled with gratitude for the wonderful people I have the privilege of calling my pharmacy family at Rylander Pharmacy and Lawlor Pharmacy. These dedicated individuals share a common bond: a commitment to putting patient dignity and well-being above all else.

At our Lawlor dinner, we had the pleasure of having the matriarch of our pharmacy, Leona Purcell, among us. Leona has dedicated close to 50 years of her life to this pharmacy and continues to work with us part-time. Her unwavering commitment and experience are invaluable to our team.

As I often say to our students on their first day, "Remember this day well because in 10 weeks, you'll be a different person." Wendy embodies this transformation. She not only warmed up to the concept of community pharmacy but also achieved substantial personal growth along the way.

The smile that you see on Chelsea's face is not just in photos, it's what she conveys whenever she's faced with challenges. Chelsea Kao completed a 10 week rotation at our Rylander location and delivered exceptional clinical care, professionalism, empathy and smiles. It's one thing to be a healthcare professional, and another to do it with such grace. Congratulations Chelsea Kao, you completed your rotation, and left your mark on Rylander's staff and patients.

After 10 weeks of training at Lawlor, APPE student Andy Zhao is ready to handle community pharmacy. He's very unique because the busier and more challenging the day would get, the quicker and calmer he was. I'm super proud of this future pharmacist, and I look forward to what the future has in store for him.

I strongly believe in exposure therapy to overcome one's fears.
When uoft pharmacy student, Kayla Rodrigues walked into Lawlor , I asked her what she wanted to learn. She wanted to be more outgoing and confident as a , so I told her to remember this day well, because in 10 weeks... she's going to be transformed.

We made her the first point of contact for anyone that walked through the door. When she was placed in difficult situations, I intentionally didn't interfere and allowed her to push herself beyond her limits. After 10 weeks, it's official, Kayla is now ready to be a boss pharmacist.
