HEALTH TIP TUESDAY

With the holidays quickly approaching (where is time going!), this month’s health tips will focus on time-saving tips for healthy eating.

I am sure you’ve all heard or tried meal planning. This can sometimes feel like a burden more than a time-saving task, but I have some tips to help! One of the best ways to meal plan is by physically writing down your week and listing the meals that you need to make 📝. Sit down as a family and discuss what you’re craving, go through cookbooks together, and check out Pinterest for some yummy inspo.

Then, fill your meal plan with recipes and make a grocery list of everything you need. Extra time saving hack - order online! It’s really amazing how fast groceries can get delivered these days and it is some extra time you can add back to your week.

If you’re interested in learning more, I’m currently hosting a virtual corporate Lunch & Learn on time-saving tips for healthy eating. Because eating healthy doesn’t have to take extra time! Send me a message or head to this link to learn more: https://www.jesselanewellness.com/virtual-corporate-wellness/

Healthy Peanut Butter Cups melt in your mouth and are a million times better than the processed sugar-laden version.

They have a creamy sunflower seed butter center that is nestled in a stevia sweetened carob shell. The sunflower seed butter center is slightly sweetened with a little bit of salt and the carob coating is sweet and delicious with caramel undertones. If you have never tried sunflower butter or carob you will find that they are a match made in heaven.

HEALTH TIP TUESDAY

Probiotics are for more than just supporting the digestive system - it boosts the immune system too!

Probiotics in fermented foods such as kimchi, kefir, tempeh, kombucha, and sauerkraut enhance the immune system by helping it identify and target harmful pathogens. That’s because by supporting the gut microbiome and the “good” bacteria provides immune benefits. Our guts really are the key to so many things!

So try adding in some coconut kefir to your morning breakfast or some sauerkraut in your salads to give yourself that extra boost during the colder months.
If you want to help support your team’s immunity throughout the coming months, I’m currently hosting virtual Lunch & Learns dedicated to boosting the immune system naturally. Head to the link below for more information and to sign your team up today. Or you can send me a message to get the process started.

🥧 NEW RECIPE 🎃 Coconut Pumpkin Pie Smoothie is rich, smooth and tastes just like pumpkin pie. This smoothie is much easier and faster to make than pumpkin pie, but it still has sweet warming flavours. It is high in protein and fibre so it doesn't come with a sugar crash. Who doesn’t want to have pumpkin pie for breakfast!?

Have you ever tried using raw sweet potato in a recipe?

I was skeptical the first time I tried it, but this recipe for 🥔 Raw Sweet Potato Salad with Curry Almond Sauce 🥔 is delicious! Raw sweet potatoes have a great crunch and fresh flavour that is far from starchy.

I love using sweet potatoes because I think they are so delicious and they have great health benefits too:
🔸 They are packed with beta-carotene which our body converts to vitamin A. Vitamin A is a fat soluble vitamin that boosts the immune system, keeps the skin healthy and maintains eye health.
🔸 They are high in antioxidants and lower the potential health risks associated with heavy metals and free radicals as they pass through our digestive tract.
🔸 They also have anti-inflammatory properties and are great for people with inflammatory conditions such as arthritis.

Head to the link for the full recipe and let me know how you like the raw sweet potato!https://www.jesselanewellness.com/recipes/raw-sweet-potato-salad/

I’d be remiss to not have a pumpkin spice latte recipe. 🎃 ☕️

I love PSLs so I had to create a healthy pumpkin spice latte recipe! Everyone gets so excited when these lattes make it back into the rotation in the fall. They are a yummy drink but they do have some not so great ingredients like food colouring, artificial flavouring, preservatives, and so much sugar. The good news is that you can very easily make your very own Healthy Pumpkin Spice Latte at home, and it will actually have healing benefits!

My recipe includes roasted dandelion root “coffee” instead of coffee. It is a fantastic caffeine free alternative to coffee that has a robust coffee like flavour because of the roasting process. Dandelion root “coffee” is also bursting with health benefits:
🧡 Dandelion roots can help improve digestion, relieve constipation, and soothe an upset stomach
🧡 They are a liver tonic that detoxifies the liver and eases congestion in the liver which can cause morning sickness
🧡 It contains over 50 trace minerals in each cup, most of which the body uses to help synthesize compounds needed in metabolism

Here's the link to the recipe so you can try it for yourself and let me know what you think!

Today’s health tip Tuesday is dedicated to talking about a powerful mineral - can you guess what it is?

It’s zinc! This mineral supports the immune system because it has an antioxidant function in an enzyme called superoxide dismutase (SOD). This antioxidant and anti-inflammatory enzyme helps to break down potentially harmful oxygen molecules in cells. Zinc is also crucial for the normal development of cells that work in our innate immunity (the immunity we are born with).

Here are some foods that contain zinc: oysters, crab, beef, pork, turkey, beans, cashews, almond, peanuts and brazil nuts.

For more tips, I’m running a Lunch & Learn for natural ways to boost the immune system. During this Lunch & Learn, I explain the link between stress and the immune system and share practical tips to support the immune system naturally. Click the link below to sign your team up today or send me a DM with any questions.
