Did you care ABOUT someone who lives with the effects of ?

Come to our FREE ONLINE Caregiver Workshop - happening THIS SATURDAY from 10 AM - 1:15 PM. Connect with other friends / family members of people who live with brain injury, learn about resources offered by BIST and Ontario Brain Injury Association and listen to TWO GREAT TALKS:

1) Ambiguous Grief - Andrea Kwan
Grief is a natural part of the human experience. However, although we will all face loss at some point in our lives, because we live in a “grief-illiterate” and death-phobic culture many of us feel alone in our grief and are unsure of how to process it. This is even more so when we are dealing with ambiguous and disenfranchised losses. In this workshop, you will learn about why and how we grieve, factors that impact our grieving process, and ways to care for yourself.

2) It's OK to be OK - Ian Keeling
In this talk, Ian Keeling speaks of his own personal and professional experience with mental health at home and in the workplace. He reveals three simple yet powerful concepts that can help anyone overcome unproductive, self-sabotaging, and even destructive mindsets, putting us in a position to take care of ourselves and those we value in times of conflict and even the most extreme trauma.

Announcing a JOINT Program with Brain Injury Association of York Region!

Neurographic Art is an uncomplicated way to work with the subconscious mind through drawing. It transforms one’s stress and fear by drawing freeform lines and then later using a specific algorithm to transform the stress into a beautiful work of art. Neurographic Art combines art, art therapy, neuroscience, and psychology.

Over the month of March, BIST Members and their allies came together to fold and string 1500+ Paper Cranes for an Exhibit at our Art On The Brain Expressive Art Show.

A mere 2 hours before we headed to the Clark Centre for the Arts to install our creation, we named it: 'Master Crane Operators.'

Pictured here is one of our Master Crane Operators - an expert on folding AND someone who saved the day when it came to stringing these tiny works of art together. She is an origami hero and we are so thankful to have her in our BIST Community. She is also one of MANY who we are so humbled by and thankful for, who worked tirelessly to make this piece of art happen. We'll say it again: this was a lot of work done by many!

Check out our Master Crane Operator Exhibit - take a selfie in it - and explore the other 50+ works by people living with the effects of at the Clark Centre for the Arts - 191 Guildwood Pkwy on until April 29th.

Admission is FREE. 7 days a week / 9 AM - 4 PM.
