5 things I wish I knew about my pelvic floor with @alyssabrunt_pt 🌸
Why should you care about sleep?
When we sleep well in terms of quality and quantity, all of our bodies’ systems are optimized for best performance, including:
💤 brain function (stress, learning, creativity)
💤 physical health (building muscle, repairing tissues, immunity, heart health, fending off other diseases, overall metabolic health)
💤 hormone regulation (hunger and metabolism, stress hormones, reproductive hormones)
When we don’t sleep well, our mood, physical health and cognitive abilities all get affected.
Sleep is so interconnected to our health and well-being.
If you’re not getting the rest that you need, book a complimentary discovery call with @taliashaperosleep to find out how she can help get you the sleep you deserve.
Happy International Women's Day 👧

That’s right – women are actually better at using fat for fuel than men. During exercise, women are able to utilize their fat stores for energy more efficiently than men. This sounds great, but the flip side to this is that women are also better at storing fat than men – making it harder for women to lose and keep off unwanted fat.
Insulin, the hormone that controls sugar levels in the blood, and therefore impacts the storage of fat on the body, has a tight relationship with estrogen. The two hormones are directly affected by each other and therefore women’s bodies create and store more fat than men.
Evolutionarily, this is a good thing, as fat acts as an excellent source of stored nutrients – meaning that women can survive longer without food (or could support a baby) more easily than men.

Is your busy brain keeping you up at night?
Anxiety and ruminating thoughts at night is one of the most common complaints I hear from my clients. Our minds need to be in a relaxed state in order to fall asleep and stressors from our days that get pushed aside often bubble up at night, right at the time we want to get to sleep.
A practice @taliashaperosleep recommends for clients to try out is called “Constructive Worry Time,” developed by Dr. Colleen Carney, director of the Sleep and Depression lab at Metropolitan University. The idea behind it is that you pick a dedicated time of day to write down your thoughts, worries, to-do lists etc and then those thoughts are parked for the day, leaving your brain in a clearer space to welcome sleep. There’s something that happens when you physically put pen to paper - your subconscious has dealt with the issue, clearing your mind until the next day and allowing your body to let go.
If anxiety is keeping you up at night, feel free to get in touch with me for a complimentary, no obligation 20 min call to find out how sleep coaching services might benefit you.

Here's to a bright New Year and a fond farewell to the old; here's to the things that are yet to come, and to the memories that we hold.
We wish you a happy, healthy New Year 🎊
Dear Inspired Wellness Community,
We would like to wish you a happy and healthy holiday season.

In good health,
The Inspired Wellness Team
Let’s face it, food is a major theme of the holidays.
Between Christmas and New Year’s Day, food excesses can lead to digestive troubles including indigestion and gastroesophageal reflux 🤢
The best way to prevent these digestive issues is to moderate your food intake, and the best way to do that is to know when you’ve had enough.
1. Try to eat slowly as the brain takes about 20 minutes to let you know you’re full.
2. Go easy on the appetizers, meats, desserts, cream sauces, etc. to leave room for healthier choices.
3. Fill half your plate with veggies and drink plenty of water (away from eating), which will help with digestion.
4. Finally, don’t force yourself to eat everything, but choose what you most enjoy.

The holiday season is full of eating delicious food, creating family moments, and relaxing. Sounds great, right? 🎄🍲
It is, however, through all of this our gut often takes the heat and experiences discomfort.
Are you aware of the foods that you should be eating during the holidays to decrease inflammation and promote the growth of healthy bacteria?
Do you know how probiotics, digestive enzymes, and bitters help reduce digestive discomfort, and when you should consider them as treatment options?
Are you familiar with how optimizing your gut health is important for proper brain, immune system, and metabolic functioning?
In this webinar, Dr. Ishani Patel, ND will be discussing tips on how to optimize digestive health during the holiday season. She will individually discuss the most common gastrointestinal symptoms experienced during the holiday time, common causes for digestive discomfort, as well as effective and safe treatment options.
This informative webinar will explain how the gut is connected to multiple systems in the body, how digestive symptoms provide a layer in understanding why you are feeling a certain way, and provide you the foundational knowledge to support and maintain your digestive health during the holidays.
If you are ready to start working on your gut health, let’s talk about it together!
