New in the Knotted Hollow collection: the Fernway Wristlet & Lanyard

A slim, hand-knotted strap in soft natural cotton, flat and smooth where it rests on your wrist or neck, with a little spiral twist at each end, like a fern unfurling toward the clasp. One antique brass swivel hook, one neat wrap, no seams.

Meet Yarnfolk Hand Salve, made for the hands that knit, weave, spin and stitch. Calendula and plantain are slowly steeped in olive oil, then blended with jojoba, shea and mango butters and a touch of beeswax. The result is a firm salve that melts at the fingertips and sinks in quickly, finished with a light whisper of lavender and rosemary.

When the needles are down and the loom is resting, smooth a little over your hands and let them recover from a good day’s work.

Yarnfolk makes its debut at Fibre by the Locks in Merrickville this Sunday, October 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Pews, 100 St. Lawrence St. Come find us, say hello and try a sample on your own hands.

**Pond & Petal — Macramé Mirror**

Like a still garden pond ringed with blossoms, Pond & Petal frames a quiet round mirror in hand-knotted cotton petals. Seven large petals and seven smaller ones, each set with a natural wooden bead, circle the glass like a wreath of wildflowers at the water’s edge. A soft brushed fringe finishes the edge.

Each mirror is knotted by hand in small batches, so every piece carries its own small variations. It brings a touch of cottage-garden calm to an entryway, a dressing table nook, or a sunny wall that needs a little light.

Meet the Hearthside Wreath. Each one is hand-knotted around a hoop, with arched macramé patterning and a full fringe that holds its shape. This autumn edition is finished with a little gathering of dried grasses, pinecones, acorns and moss tucked in at the bottom.

They’ll be making their debut next weekend at the Robert Plante Thanksgiving Market in burgundy, natural, forest green and golden brown. Each one is handmade, so limited quantities are available. Come say hello, find your favourite and take a little autumn warmth home for the door.

Hand-knotted from soft, natural cream cotton, Mystic Twist Macrame Witch Bells bring a little old-world magic to your door. A spiral macramé loop slips over a standard doorknob, and a fringe of wooden beads and two brass bells chimes each time the door opens.

In folklore, bells hung at the door were said to ring away negative energy and unwanted spirits before they could cross the threshold.

Witch bells are also a handy tool for teaching dogs to ring when they need to go outside.
