Some of the greatest gifts we can give our future selves are the things we choose to nurture today. 🌿🤎

Every time I sit down to weave, I’m investing in something that goes far beyond this cedar hat. I’m developing a skill, deepening a relationship with a beautiful natural material, and making space in my life for something that truly matters to me.

I often think about the person I’ll become years from now. The stories I’ll have to share, the knowledge I’ll have gained, and the things I’ll be able to create that I can only imagine today.

None of that happens overnight. It begins with the choices we make in the present, even the smallest ones that might seem insignificant at the time.

I hope that one day, when I look back on these moments, I’ll be grateful that I chose to begin.

And perhaps the greatest gift of all will be having something meaningful to pass on to those who come after me. 🌲

The beauty of creation often lives in the smallest details. 🌿🤎

As this cedar hat slowly takes shape, I find myself appreciating the parts of the process that are rarely seen. The tiny adjustments, the uneven moments, the decisions to undo something and try again.

Working with cedar has been teaching me to embrace imperfection as part of learning. There is no need for everything to be flawless, especially when each experience brings a new understanding of the craft.

I think we sometimes become so focused on what we hope to accomplish that we forget to appreciate who we are becoming in the process.

This hat is still a work in progress, and in many ways, so am I.

There is beauty in being unfinished. 🌱

There is a quiet kind of wisdom in the way cedar comes together. 🌲🤎

On its own, a strip of cedar is delicate and flexible. Yet when woven alongside others, each piece supports the next, creating something stronger than any one could be alone.

I find myself thinking about how much this reflects our own lives. We are not meant to exist separately from one another. Our families, communities, and relationships are what give us strength, shape who we become, and help us through the challenges we face.

As I continue weaving this cedar hat, I’m reminded that strength doesn’t always come from independence. Sometimes, it comes from learning how to hold one another.

Perhaps that is one of the most beautiful things about creating with our hands. We begin to recognize lessons in places we might otherwise overlook. 🌿

Creativity is one of the ways we return to ourselves. 🌿🤎

Co-Creating Love brings together Indigenous art, cedar weaving, sound healing, yoga, and earth-based wellness. Through creating and gathering, we make space to slow down, reconnect with the land, and care for ourselves and one another.

Thank you to everyone who has watched, shared, and supported the cedar weaving videos we’ve been sharing. Every kind word and connection means so much.

Follow Co-Creating Love for more of our creative journey, reflections, and upcoming offerings. If you know someone who would enjoy this space, invite them to join us. ✨

Weaving cedar, one strand at a time. 🌲🤎

There’s something so grounding about working with cedar, slowing down, creating with my hands, and connecting with the traditions of our ancestors.

Every weave is a reminder of the patience, knowledge, and care that goes into our traditional art forms. Cedar has been an important part of our cultures for countless generations, and I’m grateful to continue learning and carrying these practices forward.

Honouring the cedar, the land, and those who came before us. 🌿
