Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is a leading cause of cervical cancer and is also linked to a**l, vaginal, vulvar, pe**le, mouth, and throat cancers. Community pharmacists have a key role to play in preventing HPV-related cancers through patient education and vaccination.

During HPV Prevention Week (October 1 to 7), help raise awareness about the benefits of HPV vaccination and offer the vaccine when appropriate. Whether proactively discussing HPV vaccination during prescription drop-off or pick-up, at refill encounters, or while providing other immunizations, pharmacists can make a meaningful difference in HPV-related cancer prevention.
