My friend Tam Bachalo and I had a wonderful walk this morning.
We were fortunate to hear the Nader Band of the Royal Navy perform a rendition of the “Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond”
I am seldom homesick for my hometown but with today being Fathers Day, I have been reminiscing about my childhood and how fortunate I was to have good parents.
I felt emotional listening to this as we lived fairly close to Loch Lomond.
All is well. I am fortunate to live in Victoria (across the road from Beacon Hill Park) and blessed that I can be a hands on Grandma to an almost 3 year old and a 7 week old baby.
Yesterday I had a wonderful trip via bus and ferry to Salt Spring Island with my Labyrinth walking friends. The weather was perfect.
While waiting to board the ferry to go home, we stopped at Morningside Organic Cafe (100% organic, plant-based living foods on Salt Spring Island, vegan dishes and treats!)
Each of us had a delicious coffee. My photo with the plants was taken at the entrance to Morning Organic.
Undernoted photo was taken last week when I was enjoying a pre-baby celebration supper with my granddaughter and daughter whose second child was due today. I am excited as we wait to welcome the new born baby.

Standing at the edge of a new chapter can be scary. The desire to run back into the pages you know so well, is more than tempting. But you must keep moving. Chapters end, even the good ones. And if you linger in the past too long, your story cannot unfold the way it should. And you might just miss the most beautiful moments of your life, whilst grieving the ones gone by. It’s scary at the edge my friend, I know. But just jump. You have so much ahead. And the good stuff behind, will always be there.

Yesterday I was blessed with a gift of beautiful Ocean Journey Cards published by artist Debra Bernier who resides on the Island and uses driftwood and other natural resources in her amazing sculptures.
I will be sharing them with our group after the labyrinth walk this morning.
Beautiful Sunrise this morning and I felt blessed when it shared itself in my kitchen.
I have not seen this happen before.
Today from my veranda this beautiful huge rainbow captivated me.
A rare sight in Beacon Hill Park this morning. The fountain water is freezing but Nature turns it into a beautiful experience with a work of art.
My sympathies to all the people who are homeless at this time.
Ended 2023 with a beautiful Tai Chi session at the ocean and closed out with a singing bowl which had beautiful harmonic tones.

Due to me having a miserable head cold and other family members being ill, our family Christmas Dinner had to be rescheduled.
Today I used a portion of my quiet time in reflection and honour of family and friends who have passed.
I am an ardent fan of Donna Ashworth as her observations ring true to me! As I welcome 2024 with gratitude, I will be using the attached poem as a reference.
For 2024, I wish you a Happy New Year filled with love throughout and may your challenges be minor as we go forward.
I was irritated this morning as I have misplaced a box of Christmas cards. This is a small apartment so the box should be easy to find.
I looked out at the beautiful sunrise and my mood immediately changed to gratitude for being healthy and having this day to enjoy.
My lesson today is to unwind and not allow minor annoyances to determine my mood in a negative way.

I can’t resist posting this from one of my favourite poets. I had joy this morning while looking at a beautiful cloud formation at sunrise and admiring the lamppost outside on which the City has added a Victorian style Christmas lampshade at the top.
Acceptance can be difficult but letting go of situations that we are unable to change allows us to use our energy in the enjoyment of today with no distractions or playing out scenarios in our thoughts.

I have an almost 100 year old postcard dated Friday 9th November 1923. It is a message written in pencil to my Grandmother, informing her that her Father is ill and requesting that she visits on Sunday and brings my Mother "Betty" who would have been 7 years old.
The content of the message is:
"Dear Daughter,
Try and come up on Sunday and see your old Father as he is very feeble and cannot come out of bed. I would come down to see you but I cannot leave him, try not to disappoint us, come as you are. Hope you are all well, bring Betty with you.
Mother"
There must have been a Saturday mail delivery. It amazes me that this appears to be the normal form of communication for the working class.
I am pondering how difficult it must have been and grateful for text messaging.
A foggy night in James Bay, Victoria and it’s not dark yet. The clear photo is how it normally looks from my balcony window.
I don’t particularly enjoy waking up in the small hours of the morning but I am grateful to be able to watch the sun rising while there is still a couple of stars the sky. Unfortunately my camera did not capture the stars.

Last night there was a beautiful sunset and I reflected how fortunate I am to be on Vancouver Island.
Yesterday I had a wonderful meditative labyrinth walk and sound bath hosted by Tam Bachalo in Irving Park. Later, I enjoyed an afternoon of live music in Beacon Hill Park which across from my apartment.
What a great start to the week! I am feeling blessed and spiritually connected.
One thing I don’t enjoy is being able to see and hear the eagles attack the young herons. I know it is the way of Mother Nature but it is an emotional experience for me.
DEAR DAUGHTER
I hope with all my heart that I showed you the real me.
That I didn’t pretend I had it all together, or that life was not hard.
I hope I gave you the belief of you, in your core.
That I loved you enough, albeit messily, to code a blueprint for life.
To show you what love should look like.
And I hope I let you see me break, so you could understand, it is not an ending, rather a step.
And it’s vital.
Dear Daughter, I could not possibly have gotten everything right, and perhaps, thats the best thing I have given you.
That knowledge. No one gets it right.
We are not here to be perfect, we are here to love, to grow stronger and more bright with every generation.
Grow brighter my love, brighter than me.
As it very much should be.
And when I can no longer be with you, remember, my cells live within you.
You cannot, ever, lose me.
Not really.
We are a deal, a two for one.

For Friday’s in the month of June, I meet with Tam Bachalo, Mary McCallum and others for a wonderful Indoor Healing Sound Bath but unfortunately it was cancelled for today.
We decided to bring our individual bowls and walk to the beach at Holland Point for an impromptu Healing Sound Bath.
When combined with gentle sound of the waves, the collective vibrational sound bowls, it was an amazing result!
Looking forward to our Labyrinth walk and Tai Chi session on Sunday.

Today I had a wonderful day with my family at French Beach. The views of the ocean are amazing.
On Thursday evening from my apartment window, I watched an eagle terrorize the Herons who all banded together to protect their young in the nests.
So happy to be on Vancouver Island.
Once a week I participate in labyrinth walk at Irving Park with Tam Bachalo and Mary McCallum.
The labyrinth is surrounded by centuries old trees which add to the serenity and focus of our meditative intentions as we walk. It is an amazing experience.
I had a birthday in early February and I am now at an age where my time in this body might be limited. I spent February in reflection of my goals both achieved and others which fell by the wayside.
Last week I was surprised when a friend contacted me regarding a kindness I had passed on to her and thanked me for the difference it made to her situation.
In conclusion, if we choose to extend compassion, kindness both to ourselves and others, it creates a silent ripple effect which is impossible to measure.
I recall a saying from years ago which was: "Self love is no honour".
Thankfully times have changed and self love is one of the best ways to honour yourself especially when it originates from your heart. Buying yourself a plant, flowers or anything you choose to celebrate and give congratulations to your true self for coming this far is a wonderful compliment.

I have resided in Victoria for over two years. Adjusting to living in a small apartment with shared laundry in the basement of the building was a challenge for me but for sure it was a good move.
This morning I have time for reflection and setting intentions for a Sunday labyrinth walk with Tam Bachalo and looking forward to a visit to the park with my granddaughter this afternoon.
So grateful for the beautiful sunrises and sunsets which are calming soul medicine.
