The Neurodiversity Family Centre An inclusive centre providing Neurodiversity affirming counselling to children, teens, couples & adults.

Although each practitioner uses their own unique set of skills and therapy styles, as a centre, we believe in collaborative problem solving approach by Dr. Ross Greene and the family connections approach by Dr. Allison Reese. Our center offers support for children, youth and families in order to provide education, build connections, and foster success. We offer services for Neurodivergent youth as well as their siblings, parents and educators. Currently our services focus on youth with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Oppositional Defiant Disorder. However, we are working towards offering services for twice exceptional youth, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and more.

🎨 Sometimes, words aren’t enough to express what’s happening inside.

Expressive arts therapy brings creativity into counselling through approaches such as art-making, movement, storytelling, and imagination. You don’t need artistic experience—the focus is on exploring your experiences, not creating a masterpiece.

For neurodivergent children, teens, and adults, having different ways to communicate can make therapy feel more accessible. Depending on each person’s interests and sensory preferences, creative exploration can offer opportunities to:

🌿 Express feelings that are difficult to put into words
🌿 Explore emotional regulation and coping strategies
🌿 Build self-awareness and confidence
🌿 Process experiences at their own pace
🌿 Connect with their strengths, interests, and identity

Getting out the door can feel like a whole day’s work—before the day has even started. 💜

For a neurodivergent child, mornings can involve uncomfortable clothing, shifting attention, uncertainty and transitions that need more time. You and your child deserve support that makes room for those needs.

B or message for help booking. 💜

🌈 **Keep it predictable.** Try a familiar sequence or visual routine, created with your child.

🎒 **Reduce early demands.** Prepare clothes, lunches and backpacks the night before when you have the capacity. One less decision can help.

🤝 **Soften requests.** Offer genuine choices, gentle humour or your company: “Would it help if we did this together?”

🌿 **Make room for regulation.** Movement, quiet time or connection may help. Follow your child’s preferences—connection doesn’t have to mean a cuddle.

⏰ **Build in breathing room.** Where possible, allow an extra 10–15 minutes for transitions, without adding more tasks.

Try asking: **“What would make this easier?”** Your child’s answer might be words, a gesture or something you notice together.

You don’t have to try all five at once. Start with one small change that fits your family.

**Want support tailored to your child and your mornings? Book with Geoff at The Neurodiversity Family Centre.** His approach is collaborative, follows the child’s lead and makes space for their strengths, needs and ways of communicating.

Geoff works with **children and youth ages 5–18 and their parents**.

💻 Online: Thursdays, 3:30–6:30 p.m.
📍 In person: Wednesdays, 4:15–8:15 p.m., and Fridays, noon–7 p.m.

Save this for your next morning, and share it with someone who could use a little breathing room.

✨ WE HELD OUR FIRST HELD GROUP! ✨

Tonight we officially began our very first HELD therapeutic group for mothers of neurodivergent children — and I am SO excited about what we are creating. 💜

There is something incredibly powerful about bringing mothers together who get it — the mental load, the advocacy, the exhaustion, the love, the worry, the overwhelm… and all the beautiful, complicated pieces of raising neurodivergent kiddos.

HELD is a space for moms to feel seen, supported, understood and, most importantly, held. 🫶

Over the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing more about what is unfolding in our group, some of the topics we’re exploring, and the conversations I think so many neurodivergent families need to be having.

And if you’re thinking, “I need this…” 👀

✨ Our next HELD cohort will be starting in January! ✨
Email [email protected] to join our waitlist and Stay tuned for more information and follow along as we share this journey. 🦄💜
