⛰️ Discover Quito - Ecuador ⛰️

Quito, the capital of Ecuador, is an amazing city to experience. Situated at close to 4,000 meters above sea level and surrounded by the Ecuadorian Andes, there is so much to see and do in and around the city.

✈️ With an area population nearing 3 million, Quito international airport had numerous daily flights arriving and departing to/from destinations around the world.

⛪ It's center attraction is Historic Old Quito, Latin America's first UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. With it's numerous historical buildings, shops, restaurants, museums and more, this definitely should be your first stop in the city.

My wife and I had the pleasure of collaborating with Visit Quito Tourism a few seasons ago. The places we were able to visit with our professional tour guide, were awesome!

🥗 Eat Walk Tours - Edinburgh, Scotland 🥗

On our recent trip to Scotland, my wife and I experienced an outstanding Edinburgh Walking Food Tour with Eat walk Edinburgh Tours.

👍 One of the best ways to truly understand a new destination is through its cuisine and history—simultaneously!
🔎 The first thing we look forward to doing when traveling to new destinations, is to take a guided walking cultural food tour with a local.

🧀 This 3.5 hour experience seamlessly blends local food tastings and historical sightseeing, through the charming streets of Edinburgh's Old & New Town.
🥃 We stopped at four unique restaurants and local pubs, sampling delicious local food - yes, including amazing Mac + Cheese and local wh***ey!

😊 Our awesome guide/owner, was amazing in her knowledge of the cities history, hearing the stories behind its iconic spots like; The Royal Mile, Victoria Street (Diagon Alley) and the Prince Albert Memorial to name a few.

The balance was perfect!

🚶‍♀️‍➡️ This tour includes just 30-45 minutes of leisurely walking time, leaving plenty of energy to enjoy the delicious local food stops and the surrounding sites and scenery.

🏤 Historic Jaisalmer Fort - India 🏤

This amazing Fort is the 2nd oldest in Rajasthan, built in 1156. it is one of the world's very few "living forts," with thousands of people still living and working inside its historic walls.

😎 We actually stayed at a quaint hotel inside the Fort.

🌅 Historic Stone Town - Zanzibar, Africa 🌅

🌴 Stone Town of Zanzibar is located on the west coast of the island, which is the most sheltered, from the open sea.
The archipelago now belongs to the; United Republic of Tanzania.

⛵ Zanzibar became a major ⛵ trading route on the Indian Ocean for years.

🌶 The island is still known for growing mainly cloves, nutmegs and black pepper. Also common are; cardamom, vanilla, curcuma, ginger and chilli peppers.

😢 In 1890, the island became the main center for the slave trade, and was taken over by the British.
Unfortunately, the slave market in Stone Town was said to be the most brutal.

The pit and the Slave Market Memorial, is in the exact spot where enslaved people were sent and sold to traders.
It did not regain its independence until 1963.

🚶‍♂️ As you explore the winding streets and intricate alleyways of Stone Town, you'll find yourself surrounded by stunning architecture, that tells a story of centuries past.

🚪The intricate details carved into the ancient doors and balconies, reveal the rich craftsmanship and cultural influences that have shaped this unique place.

🐠 Wander through the narrow alleys of the Darajani Market, where vendors proudly display their; fresh produce, colorful fabrics, and local crafts.

🎶 The very famous and former lead singer of Queen, Freddie Mercury was born in Zanzibar in 1946. The building where the museum is housed, was the last place Freddie Mercury lived, until the family moved away from the island, during the time of the; Zanzibar revolution of 1964.

Visiting Historic Stone Town in Zanzibar, Africa is a journey through time, that immerses you in a vibrant tapestry of culture and history.

🏦 This UNESCO World Heritage Site is definitely not to be missed when visiting the island of Zanzibar.

🚆 VIA Rail Canada - Taking The Train Across Canada 🚆

One of the things I had always wanted to do in my home country, is to take a VIA Rail Canada Train Across Canada.

A few seasons ago in late September, my wife and I made this dream become a reality.

🛫 We began our journey by flying from Vancouver, British Columbia to the city of Halifax on the east coast. After enjoying exploring the Province of Nova Scotia, we began our rail journey traveling westbound back to Vancouver.

🚇 We also included a detour, hopping another train to Quebec city from Montreal for a few days.

😴 We selected a Private Sleeper Plus Class Cabin for our travels on the Canadian and Ocean portions of our journey.

🛌 A comfortable sleeper cabin equipped with private bath and shower. By day, you have 2 lounge chairs to sit comfortably in, and at night, they fold down to make room for 2 single bunk beds.

🌄 The views during the daytime were excellent!

🍂 This is the time of year where the beautiful changing Fall colors occur, and which is also VIA Rails busiest time of year.

We were able to enjoy all the trains amenities onboard, while sitting back, relaxing and enjoying the scenery.

🍽️⭐ Who says you can't eat like you're in a five-star restaurant on a train? ⭐🍽️

🤙 Not only was the food absolutely outstanding, but the level of professionalism and genuine care for guests, was outstanding!

🏔️ Every meal served in the "Dining Car" was excellent and also an opportunity to meet and dine with other guests as well.

👨‍🍳It's a true art how their chefs prepare and present such beautiful meals in a small space while the train rocks and rolls.
A real feat and a testament to top-tier professionalism!
