I meant to post this absolutely beautiful creature enjoying the flowers in my garden.
Mama Roo continues to amaze me. I have learnt so much from this incredibly strong yet gentle soul and feel so very privileged to know her and her family.
I wanted to give everyone the heads up that I will be unavailable from Friday March 22nd - Thursday April 11.
After over 4 weeks of Rehab before surgery Marlia finally had her TPLO done today. She as always such a trooper and so very brave. Her ligament was fully torn so my decision thankfully was the correct one. To Dr.Tom and Dr.Guirguis thank you for taking the reins in that decision when my professional brain was slightly grey. I am so very greatful for the best care and the most amazing team of professionals at Oaklands Vet Hospital. I cannot thank them enough!!
Also to my friends, clients and even acquaintances. I so appreciate all of the calls, texts and messages to check in on Marlia. We really felt the love. So thank you!! It really helped calm my nerves knowing that.
One of my clients is selling this absolutely amazing sculpture.
If you are interested please message me.

Marlia is officially my Rehab patient. She covered her poo last night cried and is now 3-legged lame. A hyperextension of her cruciate ligament. Let the Rehab begin. Proof that no matter how careful you are injury can still happen.
Lu graduated Rehab from her TPLO surgery mid October. She was a pleasure to work with and eager to please. She is currently up for adoption at Victoria Animal Control.
She absolutely loves humans but need to be the queen of her home.

Riding trot-walk-trot transitions are great for improving engagement of the hindquarters and the quality of the trot. They are also beneficial for calming and slowing an over-enthusiastic horse.
Try riding the transitions in the corners of your arena and gradually decrease the number of walk steps in each corner – as shown in the picture below. 👇

Happy Friday. At least 6 years later I see where Mama Roo started and I still get tears. I am incredibly privileged to care for Mama Roo and know her absolutely amazing humans.

That day that she became an honorary Canadian.

Wishing all the people and animals that I love & hold close to my heart all the best for a happy & healthy 2023. XO
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas from our family to yours.
I am open today if you decide to come. I have kept my driveway clear and shovelled. Please don’t drive if you feel uncomfortable or unsafe doing so. This morning as I have been shovelling I have seen many unsafe drivers who should clearly not be out on the road. We even dug one person out of the snow bank. So a good reminder it is not even if you are a good driver in the snow it is the other people. Please just be safe :)

Good information.
Not all "dead" hummingbirds are dead! Hummingbirds can enter a state of torpor which resembles death. Breathing, heartrate, and bodily functions all slow down, much like a mini hibernation. During torpor, a bird may hang upside-down from a feeder or fall to the ground. If you find a hummingbird like this, put it in a box with a cloth covering (dish towel or similar) and put it in a warm place. You can put a feeder in with it, but don't stick the bird's bill into the feeder. Take it outside before lifting the towel because if the bird is alert, it will head for the first opening. Check every half hour or so. It can take several hours before a bird comes out of torpor. I have received notes from people who put them in a cloth bag or even a sock, only to find it moving several hours later. (If the bird is frozen solid, it will not recover.)
If you decide to come to your appointment today. I am shoveled and ready. Please don’t drive if you feel uncomfortable or unsafe doing it.
Enjoy the silence of the snow. I have met many great people wth my early morning shoveling.

This is my star patient this week-Huxley. At under a year of age he had a hip surgery-FHO, removing the head of his femur. Since his surgery-over 3 years ago, he has been a patient of mine. His determination and that of his owners to bring him back to have normal muscular strength and to be an able bodied dog is a testament to Rehab and why conditioning is so very important for dogs especially post-op. Each session, usually monthly, I am contually impressed by his strength, balance and muscle presentation. Because he was so young when he had his surgery, his muscles and bones were still developing, movement compensations became his “normal.” Therefore it has taken a little longer to have his hind limb muscles bilaterally even. Each treatment I am so impressed by his progress and want to work. I am really proud of him and his owners!
So my videos are completed....well the canine portion of my stretching videos. Here is a sneak peak. I would like to say this is our 2nd take but in all honesty we took many, as I wanted it to be perfect. Marlia was very well behaved and was only dramatic between takes. What do you think? And yes we did correct the lighting as I found it distracting...correct?
