One day can make a lasting impact.

This , we’re sharing a reflection from parent Erin Rodger about her child’s experience at the OneAbility Games.

“It’s hard for us to believe that all this happened just over one day. But what we took from that one day was a lot.”

That’s what we hope the Games can create: a day where children with disabilities can try new sports, experience meaningful inclusion, build confidence and discover new possibilities for play and participation.

Because while the OneAbility Games may only last a few days, what children and families take home with them can extend far beyond the event.

Across BC, OneAbility Games pendant banners are finding their way onto school walls, celebrating the students who joined us at the 2026 Games and Regional Inclusive Sport Festivals.

But these banners represent more than a day at the Games or Festivals. They’re a reminder that every student deserves to be seen, celebrated and given the opportunity to participate.

We believe inclusion in sport starts with making sure all kids have a place to play, compete, connect and belong, and that their achievements deserve to be celebrated just like everyone else’s.

So when you see a OneAbility Games banner hanging in a school, know that there’s a student behind it who showed up, participated and was part of something bigger.

And we think that’s worth celebrating🎉

Here’s to keeping that celebration going long after the Games are over.

September 30 is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Today, OneAbility Games honours the children who never came home, Survivors of residential schools, their families, and Indigenous communities across Canada.

Truth and reconciliation calls on all of us to listen, learn, remember, and take meaningful action. We encourage our community to seek out Indigenous-led events and resources, and to make space for Indigenous voices, histories, and experiences, today and throughout the year.

We remember. We listen. We learn. We move forward together. 🧡

Every Child Matters.

We’re back with a Testimonial Tuesday 🎉

With the school year back in full swing, it’s time to get inclusive sport moving in classrooms across BC.

The OneAbility Games Resource Hub is packed with lesson plans, activities and resources designed to help educators bring adapted and inclusive sport into their programming — with practical tools that make it easier to get started and build confidence along the way.

As Amber Pascual, Physical Health/Literacy Lead from West Van Schools shared, “The lesson plans are an incredible resource for educators.”

So, if you’re an educator looking for ways to make sport more inclusive this school year, check out the Resource Hub and find your next activity.

Celebrating the life of the Operation Trackshoes Society founder, Judith Armstrong (June 4, 1952 -September 16, 2026)

We are grateful to operate the OneAbility Games as a legacy of Operation Trackshoes which hosted events in Victoria for 50 years.

In lieu of flowers, you can donate to Operation Trackshoes Society to continue to offer support for people living with disabilities to access sport.

It’s National Coaches Week!

Sport doesn’t become inclusive by accident.
It happens because someone steps up. Someone adapts the drill, finds a way to make it work, welcomes a new athlete, creates space, or simply says, “Yes, you belong here.”

For kids with disabilities, that person is often a coach or program leader. They can be the difference between a child having a positive first experience with sport and deciding that sport isn’t for them.

That’s why, this National Coaches Week, we’re celebrating some of the people who make participation possible. The coaches, instructors, teachers, volunteers and program leaders who show up, solve problems, challenge assumptions and create opportunities for kids with disabilities to play, learn and find their place in sport.

Some of the people pictured here are coaches. Others are the people behind the programs that help make inclusive sport happen. All of them are helping create more opportunities for kids to participate.

Because all kids deserve access to sport. And sometimes, making that happen starts with one person willing to make space.

This week, join us in celebrating the people who help athletes and participants discover what sport can be.

Know someone who makes space for everyone? Tag them and tell them why you’re thankful.

Back to school, back to learning, and back to creating more inclusive opportunities for every student.

Today, we kicked off the school year with a Professional Development session for Campbell River School District 72, delivered by Jina Taylor and Andrea Carey

Educators got the chance to learn, connect and get hands-on with a try-it for sitting volleyball and boccia, exploring practical ways to bring more inclusive movement and play into their schools and classrooms.

A big thank you to Campbell River SD 72 for having us and for starting the school year with a focus on inclusion and participation.

Here’s to a great school year!

We’re excited to look back at some of our favourite moments from each of the sport stations in the PLAY Stream at the inaugural OneAbility Games.

Our final station from 2026: Adapted Soccer

From getting a feel for the ball and having fun to passing, shooting and scoring, participants had the chance to get on the courts, try new skills, and experience soccer in a way that worked for them. The adapted soccer station created space for everyone to get involved, build confidence, and, most importantly, have a blast playing the game.

A huge thank you to our incredible partners at Soccability Canada Vancouver Whitecaps FC BC Soccer Association and supporters from Vancouver FC Net Positive Football Society for helping bring adapted soccer to the OneAbility Games. Your expertise, enthusiasm, and commitment to creating more inclusive opportunities helped make this experience possible.

We’re also grateful to Mark Steffens from Mark Steffens and Gerry Kripps for helping capture and support these special moments from the day.

Thank you to everyone who helped make adapted soccer a part of the inaugural OneAbility Games and helped introduce more young people to the possibilities of inclusive sport.

Next up: Sitting Volleyball

Participants had the chance to try sitting volleyball, learning the basics of the sport while developing their passing, serving, communication, and teamwork skills. With everyone playing from a seated position, the court became a space where participants could experience volleyball in a new way, challenge themselves, and have fun together.

A huge thank you to our incredible partners Volleyball BC and VBC Sitting Volleyball for helping make this experience possible. Your support, expertise, and commitment to inclusive sport helped create a welcoming environment where every participant could get involved, try something new, and discover the fun of sitting volleyball.

We’re so grateful to Volleyball BC for being part of the inaugural OneAbility Games and helping us introduce more young people to the possibilities of inclusive sport.
