Yesterday was a really special day for me.
I had been invited to speak at the University of Waterloo for Walk for Wellness, and I left feeling incredibly grateful.
Mental health is personal for me. My experiences with immigration, finding my footing in a new place, and navigating life are a big part of why I started bookmytherapy.
What stood out to me most was the thoughtfulness of the students - their questions, insights, perspectives, and a genuine passion for building stronger, more connected communities.
Thank you to the volunteers at bookmytherapy for making the Walk for Wellness happen , organizers, students, faculty, and everyone who showed up and made the day and Walk so meaningful.
For me, Walk for Wellness is about creating spaces where people can talk openly, connect, and feel a little less alone.
Here’s to more conversations, more connections, and more spaces where people can simply be heard.

At bookmytherapy, we believe in the power of creating safe, inclusive spaces that bring people together. Our community walks are designed to be a low-barrier entry point— for local residents and newcomers to step outside, spark meaningful conversations, and look after their mental wellbeing.
An initiative like this takes a village, and we owe a massive thank you to everyone who made it possible:

To everyone who laced up their sneakers, joined our walks, and shared their stories—thank you. You are the reason we do this.

Our incredible volunteers: A huge shoutout to Mansa Koirala and Cindy Cooper . Thank you for giving your time, energy, and warmth behind the scenes to keep our community moving forward!

Our Generous Gift Sponsors: Thank you so much to Domino’s for offering participants 80% discount coupon and Lavender Lane Wellness Centre Lane for supporting our participants with a $100 certificate. Your local community spirit means everything.

Our Grantor: We are incredibly grateful to the WRCF Waterloo Region Community Foundation (WRCF). This program was made possible through their generous grant funding and shared commitment to building connected communities.

We are already counting down the days until the weather warms up again.

What started as a walk became something more: people meeting in a relaxed environment, learning breathing techniques before heading out for the walk, conversations happening naturally and a community coming together.

Today, I want to take a moment to say thank you to our two incredible team members Tanya Ortwein and Mateo Couste who have been part of bookmytherapy’s journey over the past two months.
In a short time, you both made a meaningful difference.
Mateo, helped us strengthen our roots in the community by reaching out to organizations across Canada, building connections, and creating a strong foundation that will continue supporting our work.
Tanya, helped us move our mental health initiatives forward by creating culturally relevant resources and supporting the launch of our virtual peer support program-bringing us closer to making support more accessible and inclusive.
What you contributed was much more than a set of tasks. You brought your time, ideas, compassion, and belief in a mission that exists to support people who often struggle to find the right help.
Thank you for showing up with curiosity, kindness, and commitment. Thank you for believing in what we are building and helping us take the next steps forward.
Your time with bookmytherapy may have been two months, but the impact of your work will continue far beyond that.
I am truly grateful for everything you have contributed, and I wish you both success, growth, and opportunities that allow you to continue making a difference.

Meet Nadine Quehl, a mindfulness and yoga practitioner whose work is helping create healthier, more connected communities across Waterloo Region.

Since 2018, Nadine has been using yoga, meditation, and mindful movement to support mental health in hospitals, community centres, correctional institutions, and educational settings. From leading trauma-informed yoga sessions for youth at WRHN’s Child and Adolescent Inpatient Program to volunteering with women at Grand Valley Institution, she brings compassion, inclusion, and healing to every space she enters.

We are grateful to have community leaders like Nadine who demonstrate how movement, mindfulness, and connection can positively impact mental well-being.

Join us at our upcoming Yoga Social and experience the benefits of mindful movement while connecting with others who value wellness, resilience, and community.

All experience levels are welcome.
Come move, breathe, connect, and support mental
wellness together.
