Today I am remembering one of my longtime clients Jim, who passed away peacefully on August 16th 🤍.
He was a gentle giant and giving man. If Jim noticed you didn't have anything to eat while he was having his dinner, he would offer you "a bite" of his own. He loved to laugh and smile, and he was always humming a tune. Music brought him so much joy.
Some of my favourite moments with Jim were actually the simplest ones. We both loved sitting outside together, especially when there was a nice breeze coming through. We could just sit there, enjoy the fresh air and each other's company and Jim would often hum away or enjoy the sun on his skin.
I was fortunate to be a part of Jim's care team for his final years and got to know all of those quiet little things that made Jim, Jim.
His obituary describes him as a man of few words who had a quiet way of making those around him feel loved and at ease. I think that's such a beautiful description of him. Even when words were no longer available to Jim, that part of him was still very much there.
It was truly an honour to care for you, Jim. I'll remember your kindness, the way your blue eyes lit up when you smiled and laughed. Those breezy afternoons outside, Pink Panther marathons on cold winter days and of course, you humming your tunes. 🤍
🙏🏽Rest peacefully, Jim.
