Healthcare doesn't stop at the hospital door, and neither should our conversations about improving care.

We're pleased to see Emmi Perkins, Director of Transformation for the Guelph Wellington Ontario Health Team, joining a panel of healthcare leaders for "Beyond Hospital Walls: What Integrated Care Actually Requires at the Point of Contact" on November 4, 2026.

The discussion will explore some of the most pressing challenges facing healthcare today, including care coordination, system flow, technology adoption, primary care workload and collaboration across organizations. These are also the challenges that organizations across Ontario continue to navigate as they work toward more integrated, patient-centred care.

At Amplify Care, we see every day that integrated care is about more than technology. It takes trusted partnerships, effective care coordination and technology that fits within clinical workflows and supports providers in delivering connected care. These themes are at the heart of the conversation and the work happening across the province today.

A strong start to in Halifax!

Our CEO, Dr. Mohamed Alarakhia, joined this morning’s Opening Remarks ceremony, helping kick off an exciting day of conversations about the future of healthcare across Atlantic Canada.

We also heard from Dana MacKenzie, Executive Deputy Minister with the Province of Nova Scotia, who challenged us to think about digital health as a little more like Dolly Parton: sophisticated under the surface, but accessible and understandable to everyone. At its core, digital health should be unapologetically human.

That message carried through conversations about the Nova Scotia Patient Summary, part of the province’s Digital Health Transformation. By giving individuals greater access to their health information, patients can be more informed and meaningfully participate in their health journey.

And underpinning it all is the importance of strong primary care relationships. Technology should help strengthen those relationships and make it easier for people to navigate their care.

We also heard from Ron Johnson, CEO of NL Health Services, and Margaret Melanson, President and CEO of Horizon Health Network, bringing valuable perspectives from across the region.

We’re looking forward to continuing the conversation this afternoon!

A few weeks ago, primary care professionals came together for a hands-on Vibe Coding for Primary Care workshop hosted by our Healthcare Experience and Advancement Lab (HEAL).

The session was all about learning by doing, exploring real-world coding scenarios, experimenting with AI-assisted coding tools and building practical skills that participants can bring back to their work.

From those new to coding to those looking to sharpen their skills, it was great to see participants sharing ideas, asking questions and learning from one another throughout the session.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the workshop such a great experience. We loved seeing the curiosity and creativity in the room, and we’re excited to continue creating opportunities for primary care professionals to explore how emerging technology can support their work!

October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, a reminder that as healthcare becomes increasingly digital, protecting patient information and clinical systems is an essential part of delivering safe, trusted care.

At Amplify Care, we believe cybersecurity starts with knowledge. That’s why we offer Shield, our cybersecurity and privacy self-learning program designed specifically for Canadian healthcare professionals.

Shield helps clinicians and healthcare teams build practical cybersecurity skills, from recognizing phishing and strengthening password security to understanding clinical cyber hygiene and how to respond to a breach. The program is self-paced, with individual modules that can be completed in as little as 15 minutes.

Because building a stronger digital health system also means building a more secure one.

That’s a wrap on OMD Educates 2026!

We ended the afternoon with two thoughtful sessions: “Improving Billing Literacy with Conversational AI,” presented by Dr. Haroon Yousuf, and a look at how AI-assisted research ethics workflows can reduce administrative burden and help address burnout in community care.

Across the conference, a common theme emerged: technology has significant potential to support healthcare professionals and patients, but how we implement it matters. Trust, equity, evidence, privacy and patient choice all need to remain part of the conversation.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by the Amplify Care booth, joined the conversations and shared their ideas with us. It’s been a great few days of learning, connecting and looking ahead at what’s possible for digital health!

Day 2 at OMD Educates 2026 is bringing the conversation around technology and the future of healthcare into sharper focus.

This morning, Dr. Michael Evans delivered a wide-ranging keynote, “From Exam Rooms to iPhones: Lessons from the Front Lines of Health,” exploring how healthcare is becoming more personalized, digital and influenced by forces beyond traditional healthcare, making critical thinking, evidence and patient choice more important than ever.

We also heard a thoughtful discussion on “The Third Voice in the Room: AI, Patients, and the Future of Trust,” featuring Dr. Chandi Chandrasena, Dr. Tania Tajirian and Jennifer Zelmer, moderated by Dr. Michael Evans.

The panel explored key questions around trust, equity, AI literacy and patient consent, as well as the potential for AI to help patients navigate information, articulate concerns and prepare for conversations with their care teams.

Day 1 at OMD Educates 2026 is underway!

We’re here at the conference connecting with colleagues, learning from leaders across healthcare and talking about how digital health can support better experiences for clinicians and patients.

Today’s sessions are exploring some important questions for the future of healthcare:

• The Outrage Cure: Responding to loss, betrayal and hopelessness in health care, with Dr. Alika Lafontaine
• Accelerating Evidence2Practice: How AI-powered clinical decision support can support primary care transformation
• Modernizing patient encounters in community family practice: Dr. Michelle Greiver explores how digital tools and AI can put patients first, including automated appointment reminders and patient questionnaires
• Transforming Referrals: A look at eReferral Ontario, Central Intake and standardized referral forms with Dr. Erin Keely and Dr. David Urbach

There’s lots to learn and plenty of conversations happening around how we can thoughtfully use digital health and AI to improve care.

Today, on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we take time to listen, learn and reflect on the ongoing impacts of colonialism and systemic racism in Canada.

We’re reflecting on the story of Brian Sinclair, whose experience and death in a Winnipeg emergency department continue to raise important questions about assumptions, inequity and how Indigenous peoples experience healthcare.

Last week, our team had the opportunity to hear from Jodi Rock, Indigenous Health Liaison, who shared personal experiences and stories that challenged us to look beyond healthcare processes and consider how bias can shape the way people are seen, heard and treated.

For us, reconciliation means continuing to listen, learn and reflect, and bringing that learning into the work we do to improve healthcare.
