The sun exerts a bactericidal effect on pathogens, even killing tuberculosis.
Ancient Greeks used sunbathing to treat everything from epilepsy to asthma.
In the early 1900’s, Dr Oskar Bernhard discovered the healing power of the sun, he would treat those with infected wounds to regular sun exposure, starting slowly and working up to several hours a day. He was quoted as saying, “Why should one hold up the secretion of infected wounds by thick bandages so that it may lead to great development of bacteria like an incubator? We do decidedly better with the sun and air treatment.”
During the Great War, he gained a reputation for conserving severely injured limbs that would normally have been amputated by other surgeons, and of never losing a patient to tetanus or gangrene.

Bee pollen is nature’s most complete food, it contains all the nutrients needed to thrive. It contains more protein than any animal source and more amino acids than eggs or beef.
Its anti inflammatory activity has been compared to drugs like Naproxen.
It protects the liver from oxidative stress and promotes healing of the liver.
Due to its anti microbial activity, it’s an immune booster, even known to kill staph bacteria.
It’s a natural allergy fighter and can inhibit the formation of mast cells.
It can drastically speed wound healing as it improves blood circulation and can even boost blood supply.

Estrogen and histamine are closely linked and excess histamine is responsible for a lot of the symptoms that women experience every month.
Estrogen stimulates the release of mast cells, leading to a surge in histamine. When estrogen levels rise, histamine driven symptoms like allergies, headaches, anxiety, IBS, and PMS can worsen. This is why women often experience histamine symptoms right after ovulation, when estrogen is at its highest. Estrogen also reduces the enzyme DAO (diamine oxidase), which helps to break down histamine.
In return, histamine signals the ovaries to produce even more estrogen, creating a vicious cycle, and leading to estrogen dominance.
One of the ways to break the cycle is to raise your progesterone, this hormone naturally stabilizes histamine and keeps estrogen in check.
The gut biome plays a huge role in detoxing estrogen, if gut health is compromised, estrogen clearance is affected.
Supporting liver health is also important to balance estrogen. Increase your intake of cruciferous vegetables and take herbs like milk thistle, dandelion root and NAC.
DIM and Indole-3 carbinole are excellent at detoxing estrogen.
Avoid high histamine foods like fermented foods, aged cheese, alcohol and processed meats.
You can take DAO supplements to boost histamine breakdown. Olive oil and vitamin B6 also boost DAO production.
Try quercetin, MSM, grape seed extract, or nettle to stabilize mast cells.

One of the most valuable spices known worldwide, saffron has been used as medicine for thousands of years.
It boosts cardiovascular health due to its antioxidant profile, reducing inflammation and preventing atherosclerosis.
For this same reason, it has been shown to be beneficial in treating erectile dysfunction and impotence.
It shows anti cancer properties, especially with liver metastasis.
It acts as an anti spasmodic, and is very beneficial in reducing PMS symptoms.
It is very useful in treating anxiety and depression, in fact, in studies saffron works just as well as SSRI’s in treating depression.
It has shown benefit in treating those with ADHD, as it is a tonic for the nervous system.

There are a number of herbs that can be used to strengthen the immune system. All of them can be used for a long period of time, their strength lies in enhancing various aspects of the immune system, offering protection, anti tumor activity, and as a restorative for general debility. They also protect the body from the effects of stress and help the immune system to effectively deal with adverse events.
1) Chaga: known for its anti tumour activity, it induces apoptosis (cell death) of cancer cells, while building healthy cells. It has the trifecta of immune compounds (beta glucans, antioxidants, and triterpenes).
2) Eleuthero (Siberian Ginseng): very effective to balance cortisol, but traditionally used as an immune ally, activating innate immunity, making you less prone to getting sick.
3) Turkey Tail: a potent immunomodulator, it gently rebuilds depleted immune systems. It contains a compound, polysaccharide K, that has been used as an anti cancer drug.
4) Cordyceps: invigorates the body without stimulating, it increases oxygen intake in the body, even helping those with respiratory issues and decreasing fatigue.
5) Rhodiola: immune tonic, increases the body’s ability to deal with stressors, disease included. Offers neuroprotective benefits as well.
6) Reishi: protects the liver, reduces inflammation, anti viral, anti bacterial, anti fungal, even anti cancer. It unwinds the nervous system and helps the body deal with any stress.
7) Ashwagandha: Tonic for longevity, it balances cortisol, protects the liver, revitalizes many organs in the body including the thyroid. It is often used to strengthen the immune system, especially after illness.
8) Astragalus: my personal favourite, it’s a super tonic of revitalization. It nourishes every cell in the body, preventing healthy cells from dying, lengthening telomeres so they keep producing healthy cells. It increases white blood cell activity while being antiviral and antibacterial.

Throughout history we’ve seen that despite raging illness, some people are hardly affected, even though they’re exposed.
Researchers have noted that the higher certain immune markers are, the less likely that infection will set in, and if it does, the disease will be less severe.
The components of our immune system are the thymus, spleen, liver, lymph system, lymph nodes, tonsils, appendix, and bone marrow.
The thymus is the immune coordinator, the spleen processes old red blood cells and provides the location to destroy invading bacteria.
The liver cleans toxins from the blood and produces most of the lymph fluid. Lymph is like a sewer system, it circulates waste. Lymph nodes are intersections of lymph channels that store waste products, when the lymph nodes are processing a lot of waste they swell and become tender. Keeping the lymph nodes clear helps the body process infections much more quickly.
The bone marrow produces white blood cells to fight infections.
On Wednesday I’ll go through the top herbs to boost the immune system.

D**g Quai has been a prime ingredient in Traditional Chinese Medicine for thousands of years, with a special focus on women’s health.
It is used in the treatment of almost every gynecological ailment, it is a powerful uterine tonic and hormone regulator.
It is probably one of the best herbs for transitioning to menopause, it prevents osteoporosis by reducing the rapid decline of estrogen. It’s also very mineral dense to keep the bones strong.
It has blood sugar lowering effects, preventing insulin resistance.
It’s a circulatory tonic, boosting blood flow throughout the body and preventing heart disease and lowering cholesterol.
It has a very balancing effect on mood, it is called “female ginseng” as it helps reduce stress.

You have to try this, 1 cup plain yogurt, 1 scoop protein powder, mix in food processor until fluffy, feels like you’re eating a ton of food and you’ve got a high protein breakfast/snack. I topped mine with blueberries, walnuts, and unsweetened coconut. It’s delicious!

A diagnosis of endometriosis can feel overwhelming, so where to begin?
The first thing is to work on correcting sleep issues and managing stress, those two will significantly lower inflammation and put your body in a healing state.
Next, change your diet, focus on whole foods, prioritize protein, eliminate all processed foods and seed oils, if you don’t recognize an ingredient, don’t eat it.
Next support gut health with probiotics and possibly antibacterials if SIBO or H.pylori are an issue. Gut healers include colostrum, L glutamine, marshmallow and slippery elm. Make sure your bowels are moving! You can take magnesium citrate and vitamin C to encourage bowel movements.
Support liver function and proper detoxification with milk thistle, dandelion root, NAC and glutathione.
Detox the estrogens with DIM, Indole 3 carbinole and calcium gluconate.
Reverse insulin resistance (and lower inflammation) with Berberine, chromium, inositol and gymnema sylvestre.
