A single knuckle on a beautiful senior woman can be a lifetime of pent up expression never allowed to come out. The crooked finger tips represent all the times she went unseen and unheard. The bent fingers show all the times she had to bow down to others and people please. That very notion of the hands wanting to curl inward are all the times her inner child clenched her fists to protect herself in a dark corner or under a kitchen table. The smooth skin shows the beauty of who she truly is underneath the wrinkles of time that caused her suffering and stress. And the pain endured is the inflammation that came from every heated moment against her that landed right in the center of her precious heart. And never receiving an apology, allowing it to fester and marinate for decades created the perfect sauce for agonizing pain in the hands. Afterall, the hands are the extension of our heart. What brews in the heart will show up in the hands.

We are walking billboards for what we’ve been through. I see you. I recognize your painful story and damn, I’m real proud of you for making it this far. You’re perfect exactly as you are.
