NWT Disabilities Council For over 30 years we have provided programming and supports dedicated to building caring, inclusive and responsible communities.

Each year we work diligently to help create a fully inclusive North. Since 1978 the NWTDC, the only Cross disability: Cross-Territorial organization, has been providing education, support and advocacy for all people with disabilities in the NWT. With a proven reputation for excellent client- centred support, the NWTDC has become the initial point of contact for persons with disabilities in the NWT. The Council services approximately 1500 people each year and still has waiting lists for services. Businesses, non-profit organizations, Aboriginal groups, schools and Local/Territorial governments look to us as the benchmark for information and service.

More and more we are receiving concerns of children with disabilities being excluded for periods from school attendance and/or being sent home. All is under the guise of “safety” while still claiming to be inclusive. If you are experiencing this, please contact us - we want to support you!
