Millions of older adults take glucosamine every day for joint pain. New research suggests it might be doing more harm than good — for their brains.

A large study published in Nature Metabolism looked at electronic health records from over 24,000 patients with Alzheimer's and related dementias, plus nearly 42,000 with mild cognitive impairment. About 8% were taking glucosamine.

The finding: glucosamine use was tied to a 25% higher chance of progressing from mild cognitive impairment to full dementia within 5 years. In patients already diagnosed with dementia, it was linked to a 25% higher risk of death within 10 years. Tap the link to read more: https://mdsc.pe/4rXZcxe
