In this creative activity at our clinic, the child is asked to peel and match pieces of paper tape with various drawings (like animals and shapes) on the whiteboard.

You don't have to wait for words for your child to start communicating. In honor of AAC Awareness Month (October), we are busting the biggest myth: Using pictures or a tablet DOES NOT stop speech. On the contrary, research shows it encourages it by reducing anxiety and frustration!

Often, the answer is not "laziness" or a lack of effort. It is Executive Functions, the brain's internal "CEO" responsible for organization, working memory, and task initiation. When this system struggles, the child experiences chaos.
