Here's something the dolphins taught me... π¬
When you chase them, they swim away. When you splash and hurry and reach, they keep their distance.
But when you're calm, when you slip under the surface softly and just float there, breathing out every bit of tension... that's when they come closer. Curious. Playful. Right beside you.
I have been swimming with the same pod of dolphins at Sataya for four years now, twelve weeks in the water with them. And every single time, I wished I could stay just a little longer.
Then I found freediving, and everything changed.
I learned that my breath could be soft instead of desperate. That the calmer I was, the longer I could stay. And the longer I stayed, the more the dolphins stayed with me. Circling. Watching. Playing. Some of the most magical moments of my life have happened in those quiet seconds below the surface π
This is why freediving and dolphins belong together. The more relaxed you are with your breath, the longer you can stay down there with them. No rushing back up. No cutting the moment short. Just you and the pod, sharing the blue.
But always on their terms π€ These are wild dolphins, and Sataya is their home. We never chase, touch or feed them. We give them space, move slowly and quietly, and let them choose whether to come close. Some days they swim right beside us, some days they rest and we simply watch from a distance. Both are a gift. The most beautiful encounters happen when the dolphins are curious and playful and we simply witness their joy.
And honestly? It's not only a lesson for the ocean. How often do we chase things in life, pushing and reaching, when what we really need is to soften, breathe, and let them come to us?
This September, we are going to learn it together.
Each day begins with yoga and breathwork to calm the body and open the lungs. Then Immy and Joe of Flow State Freediving guide you in the water, step by step, at your own pace, whether it's your very first breath-hold or you're ready to go deeper. And then... we swim with the dolphins, relaxed, present, respectful, and fully there.
A week like this can LITERALLY change the way you breathe, the way you move, and the way you meet life. I have felt it in my own body, and I can't wait for you to feel it too, my dear.
