One week ago, the World Health Summit 2026 came to a close in Berlin.

What you saw on stage took months of work behind the scenes. Building the program, coordinating with our partners, preparing the venue, telling the story of the Summit before, during and after the event: our team carried it all, with energy and care until the very last minute.

To everyone at the World Health Summit, staff and the supporting partners: thank you for making all of this possible.

Next up: the WHS Regional Meeting 2027 in Hong Kong, China, and the World Health Summit 2027 in Berlin.

🌍 More from WHS Perspectives, our new editorial series launched this year to give a platform to leading voices on priority global health issues.

Drawing on evidence and expertise from across sectors, the series takes a closer look at the challenges shaping global health today and supports our mission to foster dialogue and collaborative action for healthier societies.

As comes to a close, we are revisiting our second edition of WHS Perspectives commentaries, dedicated to the ongoing transformation of the global health architecture:

• Lawrence O. Gostin and Sam F. Halabi, Georgetown University: Why the “America first” global health strategy marks a seismic rupture in solidarity and global health governance

• Lukoye Atwoli, Aga Khan University: Why global health reform must begin with Africa, and how the continent is ready to lead

• Sania Nishtar, CEO, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance: The paradox at the heart of the 79th World Health Assembly, between real progress on reform and growing politicisation

• Ilona Kickbusch, WHS Council Co-Chair: Why global health reform is about power, not architecture
