Last week, it was all about sauna in Oslo! 🇳🇴

The International Sauna Congress gathered sauna professionals, enthusiasts and industry experts from around the world to connect, exchange ideas and discuss the future of sauna culture.

Our Elina joined the congress together with Lifestyle✨Sauna✨from🇫🇮 and Sauna from Finland 🇫🇮 . It was a great few days of conversations, new connections and, of course, plenty of sauna!

A big thank you to the organizers, the , Lasse Eriksen and Stig Arild Pettersen for bringing the international sauna community together in Oslo.

Sauna + cold plunge might be one of the oldest wellness rituals and today, science is increasingly interested in what heat and cold exposure could mean for long-term health.

One of the best-known Finnish studies followed more than 2,000 men for around 20 years. Frequent sauna bathing was associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular and all-cause mortality, while other research from the same cohort has linked regular sauna use with a lower risk of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

Cold exposure is now attracting similar interest. Research is exploring its effects on stress response, inflammation, metabolism, sleep and overall wellbeing although the evidence for its long-term health effects is still developing.

And then there is the combination: heat + cold

Known as contrast therapy, alternating between sauna and cold has become part of the modern longevity conversation. The science behind the combination is still emerging, but the ritual itself is anything but new.

In Finland, we’ve been moving between the heat of the sauna and the cold for generations. Turns out, the Nordic way of life was ahead of the wellness trend.
