Say hi to Franzi, the second of our current round of interns, who probably has one of the most interesting journeys into design we’ve seen so far. Before starting her design studies, she had already built an entirely different career. She studied Japanese studies and German Literature for her Bachelor’s degree, followed by an international Master’s in East Asian Business, Law and Politics.

After graduating, she worked for a Japanese company and helped establish its European branch, specializing in B2B sales within the medical products sector.

In 2022, Franzi decided to change direction and started studying design at HfG Offenbach. One of the things that led her there was the love for ceramics. Whether it’s hand-building, wheel-throwing or slip casting, she enjoys exploring all sides of the craft. Casting has become a particular favorite, as it sits right at the intersection of design and manufacturing.

Fun fact: Franzi claims to hate learning languages, yet she speaks German, Japanese and English fluently, is currently learning Spanish and even used to speak Russian.

Happy to have her on the team!
