We are
Exhausted.
Furious.
Enraged.
Overwhelmed.
In pain.
Grieving.

We are Jane Doe.
I am Jane Doe.

As a cycle coach, you wouldn’t believe how often I get asked a variation of this question in every-day small-talk situations: “Which supplements or herbs should I take for my cycle?”

I understand the urge behind that question. We’ve been trained to believe that health lives outside of us. That there is always something to add, something to fix, something to optimize. But when I ask a follow-up question—“Are you experiencing any symptoms? Any patterns that feel off?”—the answer often is “I’m not sure.”

Orientation has to come first.

That means starting in the body. Noticing what is actually there. Learning the language your physiology is already speaking. Only then does anything like “optimization” begin to make sense. And even then, the word itself starts to lose its grip.

Since around 2020, research across neuroscience, endo-crinology, and trauma studies has started to converge in a way that challenges the entire cycle optimization narrative.

This seems to indicate that we are finally seeing a re-orientation in the scientific community: away from the cycle as pathology towards the cycle as a kind of metronome, an inner clock that governs our overall health in more ways than just as it is related to reproduction.

Your menstrual cycle (& the different hormonal phases you go through each month) creates the landscape in which your symptoms can be contextualized. Without orienting to these hormonal and nervous system shifts, any attempt at healing risks missing the conditions in which those symptoms are actually occurring.

Most period tracking apps were not built from the question:
“What would help someone feel more connected, informed, and safe in their body?”

Many were built like products first.
Engagement tools.
Data collection tools.
Optimization tools.

But cycle tracking is not supposed to become another source of pressure, surveillance, or self-monitoring.

Body literacy should support agency.
Not replace it.

Your relationship with your cycle does not need to look aesthetic, productive, deeply spiritual, or perfectly consistent.

Sometimes tracking feels grounding.
Sometimes it feels neutral.
Sometimes you stop for a while.

None of this makes you “bad” at knowing your body.

We believe cycle education should feel human.
And the tools surrounding it should feel human too.

Comment 'Baba Yaga period' below and I'll send you a personal link to try out a tracking app that doesn't stress you out or harvest your data for nefarious reasons... just clean, simple tracking and empowering daily cycle messages. ❤️🩸

Cycle syncing for the current moment.
Above all else, don't go out there alone, take good care of eachother, and listen to the organizers on the ground who have been doing this longer than you, and to those who are the most impacted. LFG!

Scrolling on social media lately feels a little like we’ve lost the plot. (...) I think it bears repeating: There is always a third way. If we don’t like the options presented to us, we can choose differently. We can simply not spend our money with large companies. We can boycott organizations that only seek to extract/pollute. We can support small, indie, soulful creators and writers and builders and artists and poets and record stores and developers… We can co-create with our friends and mutuals what it is we wish to see in this world (instead of what we’ve been given).
I know, it might sound simple but it’s not easy. And I know it takes energy and devotion. And I also know we’re all exhausted…
That’s where my specific niche comes in. Because being well-rested, nourished, energized, and ready to change the world starts with listening to our bodies. Trusting our symptoms to tell us a story about our overall well-being (nervous system, immune system, hormone health, all of it). Moving in cycles — that is with the ups and downs of our cycle, instead of against them. Not questioning our own power when we’re follicular. Being unabashedly unashamed when we’re ovulating. Resting more when we’re luteal. Raging when we’re pre-menstrual. And dreaming when we’re menstrual…
Friend, I believe this one thing with all my heart and soul:
We deserve menstrual health tools that are not owned by corporations, advertisers, or political agendas. We deserve tools that tell the truth...

“I asked ChatGPT about my period cramps…”
And honestly? I get it. When doctors dismiss us, gaslight us, or treat female bodies as “too hormonal,” we go looking for answers anywhere we can.
But here’s the truth no one tells you: AI learns from the same biased medical system that ignored women’s health in the first place. So when you ask an LLM about your cycle, your PMS, your ovulation, your cramps, your endometriosis, your PCOS…you’re not getting a neutral, all-knowing opinion. You’re getting the same old male-default research in a friendlier tone.
And that’s exactly why menstrual health, cycle tracking, and body literacy still matter.
Because your body deserves more than a predictive text machine built on centuries of erasure.
If you’re craving a way to:
🩸 understand your cycle
🌙 learn how ovulation actually works
🔥 reduce cramps + PMS
✨ feel more at home in your body
🌿 reclaim body trust
📚 learn real hormonal health (not TikTok myths)
…you need tools designed for & by menstruating people — not just repackaged patriarchy.
That’s why I built Baba Yaga Cycle Coach:
A feminist, cycle-first, privacy-safe period tracker and cycle coaching app that actually teaches you how your body works.
And because it’s the Red Weekend, you can get the Annual Plan for $4.99 for your first year!

Most period apps just tell you when you’ll bleed.
Baba Yaga tells you what your body’s trying to say.

Because your cycle isn’t a calendar event...it’s your body’s feedback loop.
Your hormones shift. Your energy changes. Your needs evolve.
And your app should actually keep up with that.

That’s why we built Baba Yaga: the feminist, holistic period tracking app that teaches you how to read your body’s signals and live in sync with your own rhythm.

Most people think holistic health means green smoothies, supplements, and a morning routine.
But real holistic health is remembering that your body isn’t a project, it’s a relationship.

It’s about listening instead of fixing. Integrating instead of optimizing.
It’s about knowing your hormones, your stress, your rhythm...not because you’re trying to be “better,” but because you already are whole.

That’s what I explore in my latest blog post, “Holistic Health: Meaning, Definition & How to Practice It.”
And it’s exactly what the Baba Yaga Cycle Coach app was built for: practical, feminist, actually safe cycle tracking that helps you reconnect with your own rhythm.

Most of us grew up knowing almost nothing about our menstrual cycle — except that it was supposed to be inconvenient.

A menstrual cycle coach helps you unlearn that conditioning.
To understand your hormones as powers, not problems.
To track your body’s patterns for real health — not just fertility or symptom control.
And to reconnect with the deep rhythm your body’s always had.

That’s what my latest blog post unpacks:
→ What a menstrual cycle coach actually does
→ Why this work matters for your body, your confidence, and your choices
→ And how the Baba Yaga Cycle Coach app brings this wisdom to your fingertips.
