The World Endoscopy Organization is a non-profit umbrella organization covering 3 geographical zones: Asia-Pacific (APSDE), Europe/Mediterranean (ESGE) and the Americas (SIED). For more than 50 years, WEO has led the promotion of high quality and safe endoscopy worldwide, through training, education and research.

🌍 VCEN Webinar 2: Thank You for Joining Us!

On 15 October, WEO hosted the second webinar of the Video Capsule Endoscopy Network (VCEN) 2026, with more than 100 registrations.

The webinar covered four topics:

🌟 Today in Barcelona, the WEO Colorectal Cancer Screening Committee (CRC SC) is hosting experts from around the world for a day of knowledge discussion and collaboration ahead of UEG Week 2026!

The program combines Expert Working Group (EWG) sessions with the CRC SC Plenary Meeting and focuses on the latest developments in colorectal cancer (CRC) screening and surveillance.

Some topics throughout the day include:

🟢 Improving FIT-based screening and colonoscopy quality

🟢 Exploring the role of AI and new screening tests

🟢 Addressing inequalities and improving access to screening

🟢 Rethinking screening effectiveness and surveillance strategies

🟢 Sharing experiences and lessons from national CRC screening programs across Europe

The program features contributions from leading experts, including Uri Ladabaum, Evelien Dekker, Rodrigo Jover, and many more colleagues working to advance CRC screening worldwide.

Thank you to all faculty members and participants for their valuable contributions and engaging discussions. Together, we continue to work towards more effective and evidence-based colorectal cancer screening.

🌍 Making a difference in endoscopy care in Namibia!

From 27-29 September, the WEO Outreach Program returned to Windhoek Central Hospital for three inspiring days of training and teamwork.

A few highlights from the course:

🟩 45 healthcare professionals — 21 doctors and 24 nurses — joined the training.
🟩 Local doctors gained hands-on experience with expert guidance, helping build skills and confidence.
🟩 Telementoring in action! We successfully connected procedures in Windhoek with mentors in Oslo, opening new possibilities for remote support.

A big thank you to the dedicated local team, Olympus Corporation, and MICRO-TECH Endoscopy for helping make this training possible. Together, we’re strengthening local expertise and working towards better access to endoscopy care. 💚
