Lynn took the first version of my course on Equine Metabolic Syndrome (EMS) and left this comment on one of our posts.

That course was built years ago. Since then I've worked with hundreds more metabolic horses, and what comes next is more focused: insulin resistance and what's driving it, laid out as one clear path, one step at a time. It's called Your Horse's Root Cause Reset, and it includes live group coaching so you can get the support you need while making decisions you feel good about. Your horse will thank you.

More very soon.

You don’t have to feel certain today. 🌿

Trust gets built the same way healing does: a little at a time. One note about how he met you at the gate. One week of steadier energy. One good month.

Write it down. Look for patterns, not single moments. Compare him to where he was three months ago, not yesterday.

That’s how a quiet doubt turns into something you can actually stand on.

You don't need to understand everything about your horse's condition to start moving in the right direction. You just need to start asking better questions than the ones you've been asking.

Progress doesn't always show up where you're looking. 🐴

The weight tape, other people's opinions, and what you read online can all make real improvement harder to see, and that can leave you waiting for the other shoe to drop.

A few simple habits help: compare to a baseline, keep short notes, look for patterns over single moments, and bring those notes to your vet.

Episode 109 is up now: Waiting For the Other Shoe to Drop, and why your horse's recovery can feel so hard to trust. Listen here. 🎙️

When I was 14, I got my once-in-a-lifetime horse. His name was W***y.

When his health started to break down — his hooves, his skin, his immune system — we did what everyone did back then. Commercial feed. Shoes, wedges, and pads. Sprays and creams. Whatever we were told.

It didn't work. It made him worse.

W***y is the reason I do what I do. And the thing I regret most is that I didn't listen sooner when his body started to talk. We didn't know any better at the time.

I think about him often, when the messages come in saying their horse's health is starting to break down and they don't know what happened.

"His crest feels a little firmer." "He's sweating more than he should." "His coat came in heavier this year." "He's just not quite himself."

Those small things are your horse's body talking. You often know something is off before anyone else does. Trust that. 🐴

What's one small change you've noticed in your horse since the nights started getting colder?

There's a particular kind of adjustment that comes with fall — shorter days, a fuzzier coat, a different rhythm to the whole barn routine.

It takes a minute to find your footing in a new season, for both of you.

Your horse met you at the gate this morning. His manure is better. He trotted across the paddock for the first time in months.

And a quiet voice says, "Don't get your hopes up." 🐴

That voice makes complete sense. Most of us got here after trying things that didn't work, and hope gets expensive.

But when you can't trust the good signs, you can't use them either, and that's when we second-guess a plan that's finally working.

In episode 109, I'm talking about what overrides what you're seeing (the weight tape, the barn friend, the internet, your own history) and what to stand on that's steadier than hope.

No one knows your horse the way you do.

You've cut the sugar. You've restricted the hay. You've added a supplement, maybe two.

Some days look better. But underneath it, you still feel like you're guessing.

Those were the right first moves. They just don't reach what's driving the insulin resistance underneath.

There are three things behind EMS that most horse owners never get told about, and I'm walking through them in a free training soon.

If this is where you are with your horse right now, what have you already tried?

I don't do "one program fits everyone," and it shows in the work.

"Elisha Edwards has some of the best information out in the world about equine metabolic issues. Her credentials are outstanding! She is an excellent resource for everything horse related. I've taken everything she offers and they are dynamic!" — Tamara G.

Dynamic means the approach keeps evolving as the research does — and as your horse does too.

Healing isn't one big moment where everything clicks. 🐴

It's brighter eyes. A little more curiosity. Meeting you at the gate instead of hanging back. Manure that's a little more consistent than last week.

You're not looking for a dramatic before-and-after. You're looking for a horse who is steadily becoming more of himself, one day after another.

If that's where you're at with your horse right now — give yourself permission to see it, even when the symptom you are most worried about hasn't moved yet.
