Possibility Project Bangalore

Sunday 30th August 11:00-2:00
Wilson Garden, Bangalore.

Every movement is determined by two things - the physical possibilities and limitations we perceive of our own body, and from the environment. Through playful creative games, activities inspired by neuroscience, and Awareness through Movement lessons from the Feldenkrais Method of Somatic education, in this introductory workshop we will explore ways to expand our movement possibilities.

Open to all. No prior experience needed. Space limited to 15 people.

I decided to train in the Feldenkrais Method after having visited several physiotherapists who poked needles in me, massaged my back and gave me exercises for a back pain that didn’t seem to want to leave me.

I wanted alternatives to these kinds of treatments and fell in love with Feldenkrais that had a kinder approach.

I never thought that one day I would have the luck and honour to share some of my experience and knowledge with a group of open-minded physios and trainers who want to integrate different tools in their practice. We did some lessons together and deconstructed various relevant and transferable techniques and ideas for their work.

Thank you .bonino.fisio for inviting me to contribute a tiny grain of sand to your tremendous project of training people to work from and for movement.

We perceive affordances — action possibilities as a result of a match between what the environment offers and our own physicality — all the time.

As movement practitioners we often pay so much attention to building movement possibilities of the body on its own, but things change when you bring in the environment.

Here I combine a beautiful Arm Circles ATM lesson with a simple interaction of reaching for and passing a ball. See how the heads automatically get involved because people have to look at where they’re going?

When you give the movement context, everything makes more sense for the body.

Fun fact, the last person moving in the video had had two shoulder surgeries and even she finds a way to do the movement!

I love bringing my research into what I teach!

A pleasure to be back at after a while, this time with a Feldenkrais Method workshop. The space was originally conceived with Feldenkrais at its core and although people and places move in different directions, it’s nice to bring Feldenkrais back to its home in Bangalore.

This time’s workshop will involve a lot of Feldenkrais and some functional neuroscience, applying things we learn through Awareness through Movement lessons to daily life.

You’ll need to wear clothes that are comfortable to move in and bring a small ball, a flat surface like a book and a pen/pencil.

This is the ONLY live workshop I’m doing in india this year so if you’re curious about the work or want to move better, register at the link in bio.

From September I’ll be back in Madrid and we’ll resume weekly online classes.

See you on the floor soon!

In this introductory workshop to the Feldenkrais Method we will explore movement in different planes and directions that our part of our functional movement repertoire like flexion extension side bending or turning. Using Awareness through Movement lessons from the Feldenkrais Method we will explore movement sequences guided by voice paying attention to how we move and how we sense ourselves. Through this somatic education the nervous system will learn new connections between different parts of the body to guide you towards widening your range of movement at the same time as moving with more ease and less effort.

The workshop is in two parts which work individually or as a whole. Each part will include two Awareness through Movement lessons with a short break in between.
* Part I of the workshop will be conducted on Saturday, 24 Aug, 4 - 6PM
* Part II of the workshop will be conducted on Saturday, 31 Aug, 6 - 8PM
You can attend one or both parts.

The lessons involve slow gentle movements usually done lying on the ground. No previous experience or physical fitness is required but please write to us if you have any injuries or pain so we can help you adapt the lessons.

In this introductory workshop to the Feldenkrais Method, you can expect gentle movement sequences lying on the floor and guided by voice. This specific workshop will include movements found in the repertoire of yoga but with a very different approach that invites you to pay attention to how you move, create new connections between different parts of your body, and widen your range of movement while minimising effort.

The workshop is open to everyone and no prior experience / fitness level is required.
Prior registration is necessary as there is limited space. Contact Yogavahini at + 91 9884642456 to register.

I couldn’t let the year go by without sharing that I completed my four-year professional Feldenkrais Training in October and am now officially a certified Feldenkrais Practitioner!

So here are some class updates for you:

Group Awareness through Movement (ATM) Lessons:
— I’m restarting weekly online ATM lessons from January.
Wednesdays at 7:00 PM IST (14:30 CET)

— In-person group ATM lessons in Barcelona are also in the plan for 2023. I’ll share more details as soon as I have them.

Individual Functional Integration (FI) Lessons:
— If you’re in Barcelona and interested in exploring how you move, or addressing some pain or limitations, get in touch with me for personal FI lessons.
FI involves gentle touch and directed attention to reorganise and educate the nervous system using the body’s natural musculo-skeletal organisation integrating different parts of the body in functional movement.
I brought my very own Feldenkrais table on quite a journey back from Switzerland to Spain especially for this and I’m looking forward to putting it to good use.

DM for information or questions about any of the above.

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope it’s filled with movement and learning.

SATURDAY SERIES SEPTEMBER

Getting Better at Doing What You Love

How do we get better at things we already enjoy? For me this is one of the most important aspects and benefits of Feldenkrais – making pleasurable and joyous action possible not only for things that are difficult or we are dedicated to professionally, but also for things we do because we want to.

In this workshop you will pick a movement activity (eg. sport, dance, hobby like gardening or cooking) that you like to do. In a group we will explore different planes and patterns of movement through ATM lessons that can help you improve and find more ease in your activity. The workshop will be once a week to give you time to integrate the lessons into your movement/ activity practice and observe the evolution. Slots are limited to 6 to allow time for individual feedback or questions. Each person will also have a personal call with me to address interests and difficulties.

Saturdays (3, 10, 17, 24 September)
11:00 AM - 12:30 PM IST
