International OCD Awareness Day 💚
OCD is more than being organised, perfectionistic, or particularly concerned about cleanliness.
It can mean getting caught in a cycle of intrusive thoughts, anxiety, doubt, and compulsions — trying to find certainty or relief, only to feel trapped in the same cycle again.
💭 The goal isn’t to control every thought.
It’s to learn that we can experience uncertainty, anxiety, and uncomfortable thoughts without having to act on every urge they bring.
Evidence-based treatments, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), can help people build psychological flexibility and reconnect with what truly matters to them.
Because recovery isn’t about living without discomfort.
✨ It’s about building a meaningful life that isn’t ruled by fear.
Today, we raise awareness, challenge misconceptions, and advocate for greater understanding and access to evidence-based care for everyone affected by OCD.
At Open Psychology, we believe that life can be guided by our values, even when certainty isn’t possible.
💚 Let's replace stigma with understanding and judgement with compassion.
