“Why don't you offer longer horseback rides in winter?” ❄️🐴
If I had a euro for every time we received this question in our inbox...
The truth is, horseback riding in the Arctic winter is a completely different experience from riding in summer.
We're talking about temperatures that can drop to -35°C, forests buried under more than a metre of snow, and trails that require constant maintenance just to remain accessible.
And that's before we even start talking about keeping our guests safe and our horses comfortable.
At Ranch Kuulas, we believe that being a responsible horse tourism operator means understanding when to do more, and when doing less is actually the better choice.
Our Finnhorses are incredibly strong and well adapted to northern conditions. But that doesn't mean we should ask them to work through deep snow for hours or become soaked in sweat during freezing weather.
And our guests deserve adventures that are not only beautiful, but thoughtfully planned and safe.
That's why our winter rides are different from our summer adventures.
Not because the experience is any less special.
But because the Arctic has its own rules. And we respect them.
