Different women. Different goals. Different starting points.

Some of the women you see here came to me wanting to lose weight and feel more comfortable in their bodies.

Others wanted to get stronger, build muscle and feel fitter.

And some were simply tired of constantly starting over. Tired of feeling like they couldn’t stick to anything, or that looking after themselves always had to be so difficult.

But here’s what I love most about coaching these women.

It’s not just the changes you can see in the photographs.

It’s the confidence they’ve gained. The things they’re now doing that they never imagined they could. The way they feel about themselves, their bodies and the food they eat.

And the realisation that looking after themselves doesn’t have to mean putting the rest of their lives on hold.

Because there isn’t one right way to look, one goal everyone should be working towards, or one starting point.

It’s about finding what works for YOU.

Your goals. Your lifestyle. Your starting point.

And having the support, guidance and reassurance to make changes that feel realistic, enjoyable and sustainable.

That’s what my 1:1 online coaching is all about.

And if you’ve been looking at these women thinking you’d love to make some changes of your own, I’d love to hear from you 💙.

Send me a message and let’s have a chat.

There’s so much nutrition advice out there. And unfortunately, not all of it is helpful.

Especially when you’re a woman in midlife trying to lose body fat, get stronger and look after your health.

One minute you’re being told to eat something, the next you’re being told to cut it out!

It’s no wonder so many women feel confused about what they should be eating.

And before you know it, you’ve got even more food rules to follow, making something that should be relatively straightforward feel unnecessarily complicated.

I believe good nutrition advice should help you feel more confident around food, not more fearful of it.

It should support your health and your goals, while still allowing you to enjoy food and live your life.

Because the best approach isn’t the one with the most rules. It’s the one that makes you feel good, moves you closer to your goals, fits into your life and most importantly one you can actually sustain.

If you want to change the shape of your body, losing weight isn’t always the answer.

Sometimes you need to BUILD.

And building muscle doesn’t happen from doing random workouts, changing your exercises every week or simply trying to burn more calories.

It takes structured, progressive strength training.

Doing the right exercises consistently.

Learning how to challenge yourself and gradually getting stronger over time.

And eating in a way that actually supports your training and gives your body what it needs to build muscle.

It takes time. But that’s also why the results can be so rewarding.

And it’s absolutely NOT too late to start.

I didn’t start properly strength training until my mid 40s, and many of the women I coach didn’t start until their 40s, 50s or 60s either.

And they’re proving that you CAN get stronger, build muscle and change your body shape at this stage of life.

If you want to do the same but you’re not sure what you should be doing, or you’re training already but not seeing the progress you’d like.

This is exactly what I help women with through my 1:1 coaching.

Structured progressive strength training, nutrition to support your goals and the support and guidance to help you actually put it all into practice.

Weight loss might be the reason you start looking after yourself.

But it won’t be the only reason you keep going.

Because when you start building healthy habits, start strength training regularly, work on your relationship with food and begin taking better care of yourself, INCREDIBLE things can happen that you probably never even thought about when you first started.

You realise how good it feels to get stronger.

You start eating in a way that nourishes you rather than constantly trying to eat as little as possible.

You realise you CAN enjoy the foods you love without feeling guilty or like you’ve blown it.

You feel fitter, healthier and more confident in yourself.

You begin to like what you see when you look in the mirror.

You feel more confident in your clothes.

And gradually the number on the scales isn’t the only thing that matters anymore.

What begins as wanting to lose weight can become something SO much bigger.

You start to see what you’re capable of.

You start trusting yourself again.

And perhaps most importantly, you stop thinking that getting older means you have to settle for feeling anything less than your best.

Weight loss might be the reason you start.

But looking after yourself can give you so much MORE than you ever expected.

And that’s a huge part of why I love helping women in their 40s, 50s and 60s do exactly that 💙.

If you’re new here, hello 👋 I’m Debra.

And if you’ve been here a while, you probably already know that I’m a big believer that getting older doesn’t mean we have to stop wanting more for ourselves.

More strength.
Better health.
More confidence.
To feel good in our clothes.
To change our body if we want to.
And to actually enjoy our life at the same time.

I’m 56 and I’ve worked in the fitness industry for over 30 years, but the way I look after myself now is very different to how I did for many of those years.

I spent a LOT of time thinking being smaller was the goal.

These days I care far more about being strong, fit, healthy and capable. And that’s had a huge influence on the way I coach women too.

Yes, many of the women I work with want to lose weight. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.

But they also want to get stronger. Build muscle. Feel fitter. Have more energy. Feel confident in the gym. Stop constantly starting again. Enjoy food without feeling like they’ve blown it. And feel like they’re properly looking after themselves again.

And I don’t think looking after your health and working towards your goals should come at the expense of actually living and enjoying your life. The two can absolutely exist together.

That’s really what my coaching is about.

Helping women work out what THEY need, what actually fits into their life and supporting them to keep going long enough to see what they’re capable of.

So if you’re a woman in your 40s, 50s or 60s and any of that sounds like you...

Welcome. You’re definitely in the right place 😍.

I was thinking about this while I was swimming yesterday.

People often ask me how I stay motivated to exercise, eat well and look after myself all year round.

And the truth is, I’m not always motivated.

I think it has far more to do with the standards I’ve chosen to hold myself to.

My health is important to me.

How I feel in my body is important to me.

Being strong, fit and capable is important to me.

So I make those things a priority in my life.

That doesn’t mean I do everything perfectly. I def don’t.

Plans change. I get injured. I get ill. I go on holiday. I eat out. Life gets in the way sometimes, just like it does for everyone else.

But I don’t see any of those things as a reason to stop looking after myself.

I adapt.
I do what I can.
And I carry on.

Because I don’t HAVE to look after myself.

I GET to.

And I think that’s something we sometimes forget.

We often talk about wanting to stay healthy for our children, our partners, our families and the people who depend on us.

And of course I want that too.

But I also want to be healthy for ME.

Not just at 56.
At every age.

Looking after myself is one of the greatest ways I can show myself that I’m worth the consistent effort.

And perhaps that’s a question worth asking yourself too..

What standards do you want to hold yourself to when it comes to looking after YOU?

Sometimes the answer isn’t to try harder.

And it isn’t always to do more.

Because you can be putting plenty of effort into your health and fitness and still not be getting the result you want.

What I’ve learned through years of coaching women is that it’s often much easier to gravitate towards the things we enjoy, the things we feel confident doing and the things that feel easier or more familiar to us.

Which is absolutely fine.

But sometimes that can mean we keep doing MORE of those things, while avoiding putting our attention on the area that could actually make the difference.

So if you feel like you’re trying really hard but you’re frustrated that you’re not moving closer to your goal, take a step back and ask yourself:

“Where does my attention actually need to be placed?”

Not what else can I add.

Not what can I do more of.

But what might I need to do differently?

Sometimes progress doesn’t need more effort.

It needs you to put the effort you’re already making in the right place.

And that’s exactly what I help women in their 40s, 50s and 60s do.

To work out what actually needs their attention, where their effort is going to make the biggest difference, and how to make the changes they need in a way that realistically fits their life.

A recap of a great week despite being injured and having many elements of my training brought to a stop 🛑.

Doing my best to remain focused and smash the s**t out of the things I CAN DO and what I CAN CONTROL.

Can’t run or use Ergs.
No problem, I’ll swim.

Can’t train lower body, no problem I’ll do all upper.

Cook loads of healthy meals to support recovery and health.

From wraps, soups & stir fry’s to a delicious pie, fruit plates and my own padron peppers!

A sociable week too, saw Chris Williamson Live. He was insightful, funny, entertaining & thought provoking. And James Smith who was his support act.

To catching up with the girls (no pic as just being present) and seeing the Switch Disco boys. Two best mates whose well deserved rise and success doing what they love.

And the support of my husband who has def received the brunt of my frustration being injured.

So whatever might be holding you back here’s a reminder to stop stressing over what you can’t control and focus on what you CAN control.

Here’s to the week ahead 🙌

If you KNOW you should be strength training but you haven’t got a clue where to start, I really do understand how that feels.

Because I remember feeling exactly the same.

I didn’t know what exercises I should be doing.

I wasn’t confident that I was doing things properly.

And when you look around and everyone else seems to know exactly what they’re doing, it’s really easy to doubt yourself and question what you’re doing.

But let me tell you… nobody starts knowing what they’re doing!

I certainly didn’t.
I learnt by starting and repeating.

And little by little, things that once felt unfamiliar started to feel familiar.

I began to walk into the gym knowing what I was going to do.

I knew which exercises I was doing and which weights to select.

I noticed I was getting stronger.
And that in turn, helped me feel more confident.

So please don’t think you need to feel confident enough to start.

Starting is how you build the confidence.

Which is exactly why I created my FREE Beginner Strength Guide, to help women just like you take those first steps.

I wish I’d had something similar when I first started!

Before you decide you’ve blown it and need to ‘start again Monday’.

Don’t wait.

One meal, one too many drinks, one night out or one thing that didn’t go to plan probably hasn’t ruined your progress.

It’s usually everything that happens AFTERWARDS because you think you’ve blown it that does the damage.

Just carry on and make your next choice one that actually supports how good you want to feel.

Because chances are, you’re not doing as badly as you think you are.

🎧 I talk more about this in this week’s Strong Healthy Happy Podcast - What If You’re Not Doing As Badly As You Think You Are?
