This client attended clinic for scar therapy following a total parotidectomy (removal of the parotid gland) and neck dissection, followed by radiotherapy.
Her scar tissue had become firm, tight and tethered to the deeper tissues of her neck, contributing to reduced range of movement and pain extending into her shoulder.

She responded really well to treatment, with a noticeable improvement in her movement, and reported no pain following the session.
Scar therapy can help to improve tissue mobility, flexibility and comfort, particularly when a scar and the surrounding tissues feel tight or restricted.
Using gentle, targeted techniques, treatment aims to improve the movement of the scar, skin and surrounding tissues and reduce areas of restriction.

It’s always so rewarding to hear how clients feel after their scarwork sessions, especially when they notice changes in how their body feels and moves.

This client came back for her second session and shared how much of a difference she had already noticed following her first treatment, including feeling more comfortable and noticing changes around her abdominal area.

She also mentioned how at ease she felt during her appointments, which is something that’s really important to me. Scarwork is about more than just the scar itself, it’s about taking the time to understand what your body needs and supporting you through your individual journey. ✨

I’m a state-registered Occupational Therapist with over 20 years experience, specialising in burns, plastics, and oncology amongst other areas. I have completed further training in scar management, with specialist qualifications in caesarean scars and oncology scars. I liaise closely with the oncology departments in both the private and NHS hospitals to ensure client care.

My interest in scar therapy began after experiencing complications from my own C-section, which led me to discover the benefits of specialist scar work first-hand. This personal experience inspired me to open my private clinic three years ago.

I now work with all types of scars such as caesarean sections, mastectomies, trauma scars, as well as non surgical scars such as endometriosis and internal adhesions, supporting clients through their recovery and helping them regain comfort, confidence, and movement. I run weekly clinics in Aberdeen and Ellon providing tailored treatment for each individual’s needs.
