🎉 Celebrating 11 Years of Baldwin Therapy! 💚

In 2015, Lisa began Baldwin Therapy with a simple aim: to provide compassionate, professional counselling to individuals. Eleven years later, that vision has grown into a dedicated team offering a wider range of psychological services to support individuals, couples, children, families, schools and businesses.

Today, we offer counselling alongside supervision, assessments and coaching. I’m Steve, and I provide specialist support in EMDR, ADHD and autism assessments, ADHD coaching and trauma informed therapy.

We’re also delighted to have Leah as our Therapy Assistant. Alongside our individual services, we offer a whole-school approach to mental health and wellbeing, including pet therapy. We’re fortunate to work alongside a network of experienced therapists, enabling us to offer a broad range of support while ensuring that everything we do remains personal, compassionate and tailored to the needs of each individual, family or organisation.

We’re incredibly proud of how far Baldwin Therapy has come and grateful to everyone who has been part of our journey over the past 11 years. ❤️

And we’re not stopping here! 👀✨

We have some exciting news to share in the coming weeks, so keep an eye on our page!

Here’s to continuing to grow, support and make a difference.

🧠 AVM Awareness – Raising Awareness, Inspiring Hope 💚

This month, Baldwin Therapy is raising awareness of Arteriovenous Malformations (AVMs), abnormal connections between arteries and veins that can occur in the brain and sometimes lead to serious complications.

We are sharing this message in honour of our wonderful Therapy Assistant, Leah, who has experienced the impact of an AVM. 💚 Her experience reminds us of the importance of awareness, understanding, compassion and support for those navigating neurological conditions.

At Baldwin Therapy, we recognise that health challenges can affect not only physical wellbeing but also emotional and mental health. Creating space for understanding, resilience and support is at the heart of what we do.

💚 Raise awareness. Share understanding. Support one another.

Seeing Chris Kamara speak openly about therapy is a great reminder that talking isn’t a weakness.

Therapy isn’t just for women, and men need to talk too. We all have things going on in our heads, and sometimes speaking to someone can make a huge difference.

Looking after your mental health is just as important as looking after your physical health. 👏

I’ll admit it — I’m not someone who watches celebrity TV or reality shows.

But The Traitors fascinates me from a psychological perspective.

Not necessarily because of the game itself, but because of the behaviour of the people playing it.

Put people in a high-pressure social environment, add uncertainty, suspicion, trust, fear of being rejected — and you get a fascinating glimpse into human psychology.

One thing I find particularly interesting is how quickly we can create a story about someone… and then start looking for evidence that proves our story is right.

We might think:

“They’re definitely lying.”

Then they do something completely innocent — but because we already believe they’re guilty, we interpret it as suspicious.

And it works the other way too.

We can tell ourselves a story about ourselves:

“I only said that because I was joking.”
“I’m not bothered.”
“I knew they were going to do that.”
“I’m actually very good at reading people.”

The more we repeat a story, the more convincing it can become.

Sometimes we aren’t consciously lying.

We have simply created an explanation that helps us make sense of what happened — and eventually, that explanation becomes our truth.

This is one of the reasons human behaviour is so interesting.

We don’t experience the world entirely as it is.

We experience it through our interpretations, expectations, emotions and beliefs.

And once we believe something, our brain can become remarkably good at finding evidence to support it.

So perhaps the most interesting question isn’t:

“Who is lying?”

It’s:

“What story is each person telling themselves — and what happens when they start believing it?”

That’s the part of The Traitors I find genuinely fascinating.

Not the deception.

The psychology behind it.
