🏥 New GP practice plans for Friockheim
I’m delighted to share that Angus Medical Group has purchased the former Friockheim surgery and is working towards opening a new GP practice and specialist health centre. Renovations are underway, with most furniture already in place.
The surgery’s closure in May 2022 was a huge blow, with around 3,500 patients transferred elsewhere and many residents left travelling further for appointments.
I have big ambitions for Friockheim and want to see the village thrive, with better services, facilities and opportunities for residents. Bringing healthcare services back would be a significant step forward.
Angus Medical Group is a not-for-profit organisation, intending to use surplus income to help fund care for those in need. Its plans include GP appointments, specialist heart and respiratory care, pain management, rehabilitation and home monitoring.
The intention is to offer a mixture of NHS and private services, although an NHS contract has not yet been secured.
The company hopes to open in approximately six months, subject to recruiting a GP, securing regulatory approvals and completing the necessary preparations.
A website is also expected to launch soon, with further information to follow.
I’m working with the company to keep residents informed and will share updates as plans progress.
After more than four years without the village surgery, this is hugely encouraging news for Friockheim.
Please share this update with friends, family and neighbours throughout Friockheim so as many residents as possible hear the news.
