There is a substantial body of scientific research suggesting that physically attractive people often receive more opportunities and are treated more favourably in certain areas of life.
Psychologists describe several mechanisms:
THE HALO EFFECT : One positive feature, such as facial attractiveness, influences judgements about unrelated
characteristics, including intelligence or competence.
THE CONFIDENCE FEEDBACK LOOP: Favourable treatment make someone more comfortable socially, which can further improve how they are perceived.
SOCIAL VISIBILITY : People who attract attention may receive more introductions, invitations and opportunities to build relationships.
